Steps to making your own custom tshirts

Materials:
Ink Jet printer, iron on transfer paper(you can buy it at any major store like wallmart/target), image(s) of choice, iron, tshirt in color of choice, some image editing software (gimp, paint.net, and Inkscape are good free programs)

Steps:

  1. Pick out an image you want to use, keep in mind that higher quality pictures are ideal if you want the image to be rather large as stretching it will degrade quality. Also another thing to keep in mind is if it has any background coloring to it (such as white), if it does you're going to probably want to remove it using that image editing software.

  2. In your image editing software create a new blank image that is 816 x 1056 (average paper size in pixels) then using the magic wand tool delete the white background image so you are left with a checkerboard

  3. Copy paste the image(s) you wish to print into that new blank image you made, resize them as necessary.

  4. Do a test print on some normal paper to make sure it will come out looking good (and to be sure you have enough ink)

  5. Once it is printing out the way you like it load up the special iron on paper and print the images out at a high quality setting

  6. Let the ink dry (may not be needed depending on what iron on paper you use)

  7. Following the instructions on the iron on papers packaging iron it on to your tshirt

Notes: Quality varies depending on the quality of iron on paper you buy. For instance I once thought I would be cheap and buy from a brand I had never heard of before, they came out looking horrible and peeled off after a few washes. Another thing to keep in mind is these things are not permanent and will eventually wear off.

With that said if you want good quality tshirt I would advise getting someone who actually makes custom tshirts for a living to make you one or possibly buying them offline from one of the many sites available.

This is the fastest/easiest way.

For more complicated things where the exacto would not be sufficient for transferring (my friend had a similar project with a very intricate design), buy some iron-on printer paper and print the design onto those, then iron it on to your piece of wood. Now you have the image directly on the wood and you can Dremel away to your heart's content.

These are kind of fun and will get you started while you think about the whole silk screen setup

Whoa, where from. I didn't know they had this. Do you have a brand or store? Like Michaels or something? Or an Amazon link?

Something like this?
