Lots (most?) Dell monitors don't have VESA compatibility. You can buy adapters for $30-40 though. For example:

I bought an adapter on Amazon. It was ~$30. It works pretty well. There's a bit of wobble if I bang the desk, but I'm not worried about it falling out. I don't trust it enough to put the monitor in portrait mode though.
Edit: the Amazon description doesn't list this monitor, but the vendor's website lists the D2717H/X for this mount.
I have the SE2717HX and use this adapter which does the job and will work for this monitor

Yes there are some that are monitor specific or universal ones that are pretty much just a giant clamp that will hold your monitor from the top and bottom bezel.
I believe this would fit but I am not 100% sure.

Got the Dell SE2717HR for 120 to use as a second monitor and have a VESA adapter coming in that added 30 more bucks. Tempted to return both and get this. Thoughts? I read reviews that the VESA adapter isn't the sturdiest thing ever and that the screw sticking out the back makes the monitor lean forward. A cheap 4k as a second monitor sounds really enticing.
There is an adapter plate on Amazon
There's some [adapters] (https://www.amazon.com/VESA-Mount-Adapter-Bracket-Monitors/dp/B01DAYR3ZM/) for that
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NZTKOQI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -- this is the 24" smaller portrait mode dell
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07684VKNF/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -- this is the 27" bigger portrait, with a modified vesa bracket mount and OEM stand (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DAYR3ZM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-OEM-Monitor-Pedestal-Stand-P2415Qb-U2415-P2414Hb-P2214Hb-/263514859008?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10)
and then the ViewSonic is just a free 27" some tech startup gave me a few years ago when they moved back to SF.
I'm using an HDMI display port and thunderbolt port for the portraits, and this active display converter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BPEV1XK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for the view sonic.
It's a bit laggy sometimes, so I'm considering an eGPU for running all three screens so I can have all in full res and no latency issues.
It looks like it's an extra $31 assuming this is the one he's talking about
At least there is a vesa adapter for it.
You can get an adapter on Amazon.
Did you come up with a solution?
I would just get a dual arm vesa mount. I've bought a couple ones from Amazon with good results.
Edit: also, I didn't realize that there are adapters for mounting a lot of monitors without traditional vesa mounts. For example:

These are the ones I used, I found them cheaper though on Ebay. I got two for $35 shipped.

FYI- these work great.
Yeah, I have a Dell S something or another that doesn't have VESA, but did have a solid metal mounting point for the stand, so I was able to buy this adapter in order to VESA mount it. The downside was that this adapter is not centered height wise and that it made for a very wobbly setup. I ended up ordering another ultrasharp to match my main monitor, which now I wish I would have just splurged for a 1440P monitor. I love my Ultrasharps, so I will be sad to see one get demoted to my wife's desk. The old Dell S something or another will get brought to my office, and I might give my friend my ViewSonic 22" 1080P to upgrade his 768p monitor that he runs with a 970 lol!

Yes I love this setup
Indeed, it does. Nice find.
Quick, I'd better find something wrong with it so I don't just buy it on impulse...
edit: actually found something, no VESA mounting -_- they still make monitors without that?! Still a great catch tho
edit 2: adapter for $32. Hmm.
