I agree with any switched light having the switch as the controller. Just makes more sense typically. That said, it might not be something that someone in a apartment might be able to do or even want to do for that matter. Hue white bulbs are $15 so not anymore than a decent switch if he was doing 3 of them. OP: they do make E12 base to E26 base (candelabra to medium) socket adapters.
