Woke up to a lot of love! Thanks everyone for making me even more excited to show it to her. She’s definitely annoyed I haven’t asked yet so she might just grab the ring from the box and put it on herself at this point :P
To those curious about the wiring: I cannibalized this cheap amazon box and saved all the parts as buying them separate would have cost way more (it was $9). It came with two watch batteries wired to a resistor and a spring loaded pressure switch.

The hinges are 10mm barrel hinges that are installed using a 10mm forstner drill bit. They are really difficult to drill perfectly so practice first or buy a jig.
The carving on top is two elephants separated by a heart. That was really hard and would look way better with a cnc laser or engraver but hopefully she can tell.

I'm not sure what it's called, it's just a little push-to-disconnect switch. It's the white thing toward the back in between the hinges. I bought this ring box and ripped out the electronics to use in my own box: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HDWZ8O0
I bought this box, took it apart and threw the guts into the box I built. I had to cut in a small mortise to hold the switch.
