It's the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750. I like it a lot - key action is similar to a really good laptop chiclet style keyboard. It's really small and doesn't take up much desk space. And, it's solar so no batteries to die on you. (I've had it going about 5 months and never had a power issue.)

I recently switched back from a laptop to a desktop and was looking for a keyboard with a similar feel to the one I had been using for 7 years on my laptop. I bought the one I linked above and I love it. And, if you prefer to buy it with bitcoin like I did, you can also find it on dell.com for the same price.

Logitech K750 Solar Powered Keyboard.... no cables, no batteries & has never died on me. The key & plastic are WAAAAY better quality than most keyboards you can find at best buy or office max now (they've got terrible over last few years).

I just went through this: I all but fell in love with Apple's Magic Keyboard 2, but couldn't stand the lack of 10-key or nav-cluster. I found the Logitech K750 for $54. It's bigger (but it has to be to fit a 10-key and nav-cluster) and it's solar. The solar wasn't a must, but they don't make a non-solar equivalent).

The weight, feel, and thickness are all spot-on for the Apple offering. It connects via a Unifying receiver, and apparently the batteries last forever, charging even on office or other artificial-light.

And at 1/3" thick, it's on the Apple diet for sure. I was all but resigned to the fact that I had to decide between a $99 option Apple keyboard, without some key features, or a big bloated clunky Logitech. My eyes have seen there's a 3rd option.

It's a solar panel to draw power from the lights.

I use this wireless keyboard.

Who the fuck downvotes OP for looking for a non-mechanical keyboard? Mechanical keyboard master race? How fucking pathetic.

OP, the chiclet style keyboards are usually the most quiet since they have the shortest travel distance and are rubber dome based.

Check out the Logitech K750, or K360 which is a little cheaper.

Keep in mind, both of these keyboards (and a lot of other chiclet keyboards) are NOT STANDARD LAYOUT. There are a few companies that make standard layout chiclet keyboards, but they can be a little hard to find (and a little pricey; I think Apple still makes standard layout chiclet keyboards).

Also keep in mind that these chiclet/scissor style keyboards are a PITA to remove/install and clean. It's a shame, but nowadays a lot of keyboards are designed to be disposable to the average consumer.

I would highly recommend a new Logitech keyboard. The Logitech K750 is fantastic (I used it for over a year before upgrading to a mechanical keyboard). It's solar powered; you literally never have to worry about charging it. There are no downsides to this. It really works well, even in my shaded room. The layout is great and includes a function key with plenty of media controls.

You might also be interested in the Logitech K810. It's tenkeyless, backlit, and uses bluetooth so you can connect it to just about any device including your phone or tablet. I haven't used it personally but considered buying it at one point. It looks pretty sleek and lets you easily switch between devices if keyboard shortcuts.

Sweet, now they need to make it solar powered and wireless with universal USB connector compatibility so I can replace my fingerprint magnet

I've been using a Logitech Wireless K750 for going on a year and a half now, and I'm about ready to put it through a wall. When it isn't interrupting fullscreened applications to warn me that it's only at 60% battery left and might die at any second (even though its battery has lasted the entire time I've had it just fine), it's interrupting fullscreened applications to warn me that it isn't sitting three inches under an industrial heating lamp and therefore doesn't have sufficient light. I'm thinking of replacing it with a mechanical keyboard.

I primarily use my keyboard for typing, not for gaming. I've only been a PC gamer for around 5 years, and have almost 15 years of experience using controllers prior to that, so I've always just stuck with what's natural to me. I do, however, do a good amount of writing, so the keyboard certainly gets used for normal typing a lot. I've done a modest amount of research over the last few days, and have come to the conclusion that I should get Cherry MX Blue switches, whatever keyboard I ultimately get, as they are designed for typing over gaming.

I've narrowed it down to three choices that I'm looking at. I'm just looking for a bit of input about what you all think would be the best.

Das Keyboard Model S

Pros:

  • I've read that Das has some of the best quality available.

  • Modestly priced compared to the 4.

  • This is the only one of the three I'm considering that has the actual Windows logo on the Windows key instead of the company's logo. Very minor complaint, but I think that's slightly on the tacky side.

    Cons:

  • I like it aesthetically the least of the three. It's just a little on the plain side. It's very utilitarian looking.

    Das Keyboard 4

    Pros:

  • I've read that Das has some of the best quality available, and this, as far as I can tell, is their top-of-the-line model.

  • More aesthetically pleasing than the Model S. It has a nice luxurious look to it.

    Cons:

  • The most expensive of the three. It's right on the border of how much I think I'm willing to spend.

  • The Das logo on the Windows key.

    Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro S

    Pros:

  • The least expensive of the three.

  • Cooler Master seems to be a favorite brand of this sub, from what I've read.

  • Reviews slightly better than either of the Das keyboards.

  • Me likey shiny purdy rainbow lights... drools

    Cons:

  • Seems more oriented towards gaming than writing, but that might just be the marketing hype. It does still have Cherry MX Blues after all.

  • The Cooler Master logo on the Windows key.

I've got a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. It's definitely noticeable if I use it while LPing, and in my opinion it degrades the commentary. It also makes it harder to do a lot of automated post-processing on the audio, but your mileage may vary.

So when I'm not recording I still use it, but when I turn on the mic I switch over to my solar powered keyboard, which was not nearly that expensive when I got it at Target. Since it's wireless it's easy to grab and put on my desk when in use, and then put away when I'm done.

If you can find a way to get your keyboard farther from your mic than I could it might work out for you, but the clicks were far too dominating for my tastes (my first few videos on my channel were done using the Blackwidow if you want a frame of reference.)

Found some on your budget Logitech 4 stars, Redragon 4 stars, Cougar 4stars, Langtu 5!?! stars, Azio 4.5 stars.
My opinion on them is this:
Even tho the Logitech is only famous brand its the worse because its wireless and has a very short lifespan.
The Redragon have stiff keys hard to press and takes time to get used to it.
Becareful with Cougar near CTRL is an extra key... If you are an aggressive typewriter will have no problem with some keys being harder than usual to push.
Langtu is a surprise with metal panel and silent even tho it feels mechanical I haven't found anything con on it.

Azio is great if your eyes are bad, but the keys wear out fast and and if you are a fast typewriter you might find more problems with it.

I use a solar powered mouse ($18.99) and a solar powered keyboard ($49.99). The keyboard's good and the mouse is alright. The keyboard has great battery life. It can last 3 months without charging.

He has a G510. It's what I'm using and the button layout under the screen looks the exact same. F7 below the first of the 4 buttons in that row, and F9 below the last one. It's my first G series keyboard and I'm loving it. I also have a Logitech k750, and I like the way the keys and key press feel on that keyboard. I wish my G510 had the same keys as the k750, one can only dream though.

you guys are picky...

I figured the rest of my gear would just be assumed...buuuut, I also have:

a pair of MR5s

sennheiser HD558 mixing phones

a powerful PC

and my DAW is Reaper

oh, and I also have a keyboard, mouse, two displays, and a grip-load of cables. I guess to build my set-up from scratch, it would actually cost around $3k...

I know this isn't what you are asking for directly but Logitech makes some keyboards that don't need the battery replaced since they work off of light (Kind of like old calculators).

I use of those for work and I have never changed the battery on it and its been on and active for 8-10 hours a day without any issues for 2 years.

I don't know if they have a mouse equivalent but here is an example of the keyboard I am referring to.

I'm looking for a large-enough lapdesk for this Logitech K750 Keyboard and this Logitech G700s Mouse. I'll be gaming on my couch, and I want to make sure the lapdesk can fit both peripherals, since other ones I found seem to be too small. Thanks in advance!

If you want quiet, mechanical keyboards aren't the way to go. I'm quite happy with these:

u/Hughtub · -10 pointsr/minimalism

Why didn't you just get rid of the keyboard too? It takes up a bit of space there on your desk.

Perfect example of aesthetic minimalism (anti-minimalism) choosing looks over higher functionality (real minimalism).

A real minimalist keyboard is the ultra thin Logitech K750 solar-powered. or any of the Apple keyboards. They are volumetrically minimal, while retaining the utility of communicating what each key does. Anti-minimalism often trades functionality for form. Minimalism considers optimal functionality to be the most aesthetic form.

It makes him feel "hardcore".

For the price he paid for it, it makes me feel "what a sucker": http://www.daskeyboard.com/model-s-ultimate-silent/

Personally, I would pay much less for a superior keyboard: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MF11MU
