If the Edison type bulb wont dim, it's probably not dimmable.

Or else the load is too low, there is a minimum load for the Caseta, I believe its 25 watts.

You could also try installing a LUT-MLC load adapter... EDIT Sorry, just re-read you have no neutral in the box.

After doing some quick googling, I think you either need MORE load.. can you switch one (or some) of the LED out to halogen? or you need a neutral wire in your switch box... then you could you use a Caseta PRO or any Caseta with the LUT-MLC load adapter to make it work.

It has something to do the voodoo magic that is electricity, you can add the module below or find a different higher draw bulb. Both have worked for me. I’m sure others will explain the “why” better but I at least understand the “how”.

I believe this is what you’re looking for. I had the same problem with my outdoor light with integrated led. Added this thing and no more ghosting.

You have to replace the smart bulb with a dumb one.

And if there's no neutral in the switch box (no bundle of white wires in the back?) then if it's an LED or fluorescent bulb, you'll probably have to install a "minimum load capacitor" bypass at the fixture - a Lutron LUT-MLC or Aeotec or Fibaro or something similar.

No-neutral dimmers operate by leaking some current through the fixture. This works fine with incandescent bulbs but not with LED or fluorescent - so they need a bypass to leak power. Inovelli says that "You will need to install a bypass (sold separately) if you want to use bulbs under 25W" - but it's the load type, not wattage, that usually matters.

That must be it then...Usually with smart switches, if they don't have a neutral wire requirement (for the motion sensor and circuits to work correctly), they rely on the resistance of the light to steal the neutral and for that there needs to be a minimum load. It's weird that they don't advertise it though.

I have this *exact* same problem – they flash on, then off, then back on. From that point forward, they operate just fine without any flickering.

I have am using Lutron Caseta Wireless Smart Lighting Dimmer Switches and dimmable LEDs.

Is this the LUT-MLC that you’re referring to? Can someone explain to me exactly how it works in conjunction with the above Smart Lighting Dimmer Switch?
