I have a '96 XJ. Swapping the speakers in the doors is pretty simple (the harder part was fixing the broken speaker wires that snake through the door hinge...)

I just added some basic Kenwood speakers to replace the stock speakers that were full of holes and mold. The XJ, as you know, isn't especially quiet, so I didn't feel like it was worth investing in anything beyond some new speakers and replacing the cassette deck with something a bit more modern.

Check out metras site. I tracked one down for a 94 this way. Then search for the part number on Amazon, it was only like 6 bucks or something!
