K thats installed wrong. Probably in 2 places.

the cartridge is likely upside down. the positemp valve has a little notch in it. I BELIEVE that notched edge should face 6pm. here it is facing 12. google the placement for this. its 12 or 6

The caldwell has this pointing at 6pm so it may vary

the black piece has a part that extends back towards the wall. that piece should be installed just on the left of the valve cover. like in this picture. Your handle will face 6 o clock when installed correctly and only turn counter clockwise
