The best hangover cure is hangover prevention. So if being hungover tempts you to smoke do everything you can to avoid hangovers. I myself get terrible terrible hangovers. Before bed i usually throw up all the alcohol in my system(on purpose, i want that toxic poison out of my body). I Take an optimen multivitamin or 2 before bed and drink at least 2 water bottles. I chug it like its beer. Hangovers are cause from dehydration, and you have to prevent that before the problem occurs.

Some people swear by Pedialyte. They say its like gatorade on steroids. Its starting to get around colleges now as "the" hangover cure. I have not tried it yet so I can't knock it but have friends that use it.

Just a couple of quick tips to prevent hangovers so you don't get the urge to smoke. :)

I take these. Not sure if it's the best one, but I think it's getting the job done.

One of the symptoms is feeling tired all the time.

He is willing to take something?

I just purchased these for my hubby. They should arrive tomorrow. He talked about taking a multivitamin and the reviews on this one are very good with welcome side effects. Many said taking it once a day was enough. Dosage says 3 times a day but that seems like a lot.

These were highly recommended to me by a bodybuilder friend and quite affordable. I take them every day.

  • Precooked quinoa seasoned with dried peppers + chicken stock/lemon juice (is eaten at room temperature)

  • Almonds/pistachio/macadamia/brazil nuts + hemp seed

  • Canned Tuna/Chicken and Dried Beef/Bison/Lamb/Camel/Salmon and Sausage/genoa/prosciotto

  • Broccoli lasts forever, cauliflower, carrots, hummus, beans, avocado

  • Jams/Preserves/Chutney/Conserve/Fruit Butter/Marmalade and Dried Fruit

  • Peanut Butter/Almond Butter/Nutella

  • Oats

  • Olive Oil

Many of these are all things which should last in warm weather. I added olive oil, because if you are able to drink it, 4oz has 1000 calories. You could replace fresh fruit with my Preserves/Marmalade category, or the dried variety. Instead of bread, coat the Peanutbutter/nutella onto granola bars.

You can make home-made granola and granola bars with TONS of great stuff, then everything is mixed into one bar/bag. Get creative:

  • maple syrup, honey, agave, rice sugar, brown sugar, wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, flax meal, whole and powdered nuts (walnut, cashew, pecan, pine, almonds, pistachio, macadamia, brazil), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, sesame, flax), dried fruit (pineapple, papaya, apricot, mango, apple, kiwi, guava, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, boysenberry, cranberry, blueberry infused cranberry, raisin, golden raisin, figs, cherries), cereal (rice crispies, crushed mini wheats), coconut, chocolate, cinnamon, ancho chili pepper, salt, vanilla, butter, peanut butter, nutella, coconut butter, milk, water.

I would take one of these (bone+multivitamin) morning and night (daily "dose" is four pills, so you would still only be taking half what they want you to) if you are worried about getting vitamins and minerals.

A brain one may make you feel better too. I would bring the supplements in case you go through the fruit faster than you plan.

I take two of these a day, one with lunch and one before bed. Also these multivitamins, no potassium in there but they do have magnesium.

Optimum Nutrition - Opti Men. Man up Nancy and swallow the pills :)

Do you take any multivitamins?

I started taking a multivitamin around the same time I started keto and I would get the weirdest dreams every single night. This from someone who has had maybe 1 or 2 dreams a year. I stopped taking them after 3pm because it was apparently keeping my brain more active. (I take Opti-Men but I knew going in that other people had reported dream side effects as well. Just CTRL+F 'Dream' on that Amazon page and you will find someone else saying the same.)

Grab a multivitamin for your micros (I use Optimen, 1 tab per day), and just add some salt to daily food. Or Lawry's to everything in my case. I wouldn't suggest adding baking soda to your drinks, I doubt the sodium will dissociate to give you the electrolytic sodium needed (but I could be wrong).

Another thing I do is slightly coat BabyBel cheese rounds in some salt (mmhmm habanero salts from Esty). Easy low carb, salty snack.

Are you hitting all your micros/macros? Anything missing there?

How much water are you drinking.

I was hungry a lot for the first week or so; I upped the water consumption, took supplements to ensure i was hitting everything [1], [2], [3] (#3, only because vegans have a hard time getting Omega-3 without meat) and it went away.

The vast majority of research on Omega 3 cites 720mg of EPA and 480mg of DHA, and most Omega 3 supplements do not have enough of either. I suggest Trader Joe's Brand. The price isn't bad, and two of these a day will ensure you get enough.

As for multivitamin, I use Opti-Men but it really isn't that advantageous compared to a lot of others. I used to use Centrum Silver, and I will probably go back to that once I'm finished with Opti-Men. I hear good things about Orange Triad though.

What is your favorite multi-vitamin?

I was using GNC Energy + Metabolism Blend until i ran out. Now i'm using ON Opti-men.

Since the switch i feel like i have less energy and am thinking about going back to the GNC blend. Any thoughts on this is appreciated.

It's a bit more expensive, but you can replace that whey protein with amino acids. They only have ~1 calorie per gram, instead of 4. They have higher bioavailability. Free-form amino acids don't need to be broken down by the liver, and get into the bloodstream much faster. I'm doing intermittent fasting, and I began losing muscle faster than I wanted to, but taking these has really helped. I take Monster Amino, in the morning and before bed. From what I've found, it's the most complete mix for its price. 15 minutes before working out and 4 hours afterwards, I take Extreme Nitric Stack for the FFAAs. It caused some skin flushing at first, but I instantly noticed increased endurance and faster recovery times followed.

I take this multivitamin, They are horse-pills, but you get a lot for the money. With Monster Amino, it approaches the tolerable upper limit for B6, so stop taking it if your hands start to tingle.

I also take calcium, magnesium, algal DHA, and L-Dopa, but those are more for helping with ADHD.
