Well, first off: OS X 10.11 El Capitan isn't the newest macOS version for your MacBook Pro. Your MacBook pro actually supports macOS 10.13 High Sierra. High Sierra can still be downloaded from the Mac App Store, it is just hidden. Here is the link to it (click this link in Safari only, not in Chrome or Firefox!):

On PlayStation you can do an external or internal SSD. Internal is going to be a bit faster because it's not limited by USB, and it also gives an advantage outside of games because the PS4 OS will be on the internal drive so navigating PSN menus etc is faster.

For ease of use and storage space, most people go with an external Samsung T5.

$89 500GB: Samsung T5 Portable SSD - 500GB - USB 3.1 External SSD (MU-PA500B/AM), Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073GZBT36/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_2SVWDbH9TPBBJ

If you want the performance at the cheapest price and you're not worried about storage space, this Sandisk 500GB internal SSD is the best option at $65: SanDisk Ultra 3D NAND 500GB Internal SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, 2.5"/7mm, Up to 560 MB/s - SDSSDH3-500G-G25 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072R78B6Q/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_qnVWDbC2C83DW

I have the Sandisk but the Samsung 860 internal is on sale right now at $70: Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781Z7Y3S/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_SUVWDbF7JK7ZW

There are 1TB and higher available in all of the above as well.

You know your games won't load any faster than because they're still on the slow hdd right?

Ssd prices have dropped so much compared to what they used to be...

You can get a 500gb Sandisk 3d for $60. It's only $20 or $30 more than the 250gb and you could fit all of your commonly used games onto it:

If I was going through the hassle of reinstalling everything that's the smallest I'd get. A decent 1tb ssd is $120-$130.

They are compatible. XBOX just has the external USB connectors supporting USB 3. I am not sure if PS4 external USB is USB 3.

Just looked it up, looks like any USB 3.0 enclosure will work:

An SSD will be more expensive. I found this, but you might have to get an adapter for it to fit in the slot.

Hey all i'm looking to get a 500GB SSD but I'm not sure if there's a huge difference in performance between the ones I like.

The main page may be running through stocks from different merchants, but if you go here you can see the smallest available price and still grab it for 67.

This 500GB SSD for £127.19 seems like a good deal, what do people think?
it is an over kill since I'm getting a normal 2T+ hard drive?
Is the deal so good, that I should buy now (this product never been that low, but also, never got discounted before on Amazon).

Amazon has a really good deal running today on a SanDisk 500GB SSD ($58). I'm in the market for an upgraded SSD to use as a gaming drive (would keep my current 128GB SSD just for OS and critical programs), but I've been hearing a lot about M2, and am trying to future-proof as well. Is this too good a deal to pass up, or would I be better off paying more for a comparable M2 (for example, $70 for a Crucial MX500)?

Thanks for the great info, time to order an SSD.

Can somebody help me figure something out? I am looking at these two SanDisk SSD's. This one is 480 GB and on sale for $69.99 and this one is 500 GB for $84.99. Would they both work with an external enclosure? Is the 480 GB version something different? The dimensions are roughly the same as all of the others but it doesn't have 2.5" in the description anywhere.

Thanks guardians.
