It's been such a weird fascination of mine, I'm excited to find an exception!

...and there it is! I knew someone had to do it right. Thanks!

Also check out the Senheiser PXC 550's; I've done about an hour of research today on multiple wireless over-ears and these ones seem to take the cake.

They're at $200 on Amazon. Not sure what their price history is, but I am pretty sure they used to be $300 and above. Their list price is now $220.

There's a lot of stuff out there, happy shopping everyone

u/pntless · 7 pointsr/headphones

Sennheiser PXC 550 is currently $299.xx at several retailers including Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Amazon (Amazon is OOS but available for backorder) in the US.

Was watching a review of the PXC550 that was uploaded 3 days ago, the video said it's $350. Just saw today that it's down to $200. Those who have used it, is it worth getting?

u/OffensiveCanadian · 3 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

I have large ears. I've been considering these ($270), the PXC 550 ($330), and the WH1000XM2 ($300).

It seems that both the HD1 and the WH1000XM2 have small earpads, and there aren't any good options for third-party pads.

I've decided on the PXC 550s. They have larger stock pads, which can be upgraded to the Brainwavz HM5 if necessary.

Just my thoughts. Other audiophiles with large ears may find this helpful.

I assume you mean headphones and not headset (no mic)

I just got these last week - and they're amazing ($45 over your price range though). Super comfortable and great quality sound. Has different outside noise dampening settings too

u/arychj · 2 pointsr/Corridor

Pretty sure they're the Sennheiser PXC 550 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E3XLNA0), but that's just a guess from seeing them in the videos.

I have a pair of Seinheiser PXC 550s and I absolutely love them. Great sound quality for traveler's headphones. You can switch between light, heavy, or no noise cancelling. Battery is about 80 hours on a 3 hour charge. Easy to store on the go. I much prefer them over Bose Quietcomfort.

I probably have some form of misphonia so loud chatting on the subway, gum popping, and what I like to call train crickets (the snappy snare from cheap earbuds blasting trap beats) make me more irritable than reasonable. I've had zero aggravation on the train since getting these.

Funny you mention Sennheiser for value, since their competing product is more expensive and is arguably worse in both sound and isolation. People keep spreading this misinformation that bose headphones have mediocre to bad reproduction abilities while they, in fact, follow the Harman target response curve better than average.

If you want great sound, you should really get studio headphones like the Sennheiser HD series for music or gaming headphones if you'll be gaming. Wireless/Bluetooth headphones never sound as good as wired headphones, at least in my experience and the battery never lasts anywhere near as long as it claims to. If you absolutely want wireless headphones that work with phones and computers, check out Senneheiser's PXC series. The PXC series are all wireless and noise-canceling and all work with all electronic devices, even work on planes with the media. If I were you and absolutely had to have wireless headphones, I'd go with the Sennheiser PXC 480 or PXC 550. I found the PXC 450 and PXC 550 on Amazon. You're better off getting good wired headphones for the computer and just a regular wireless/Bluetooth headset for your phone because the phone won't have great sound anyway, so listening to it with good headphones won't make a difference. Some other brands to check out would be Audio-Technica and Shure. Talk to the people on /r/Headphones if you don't believe me.

You should definitely check these out...

I have recently purchased the AirPods (2nd gen), AirPods Pro, and PXC 550. I am an IT guy and an Apple nerd who listen to podcasts and a wide genre of music, but am not an audiophile by any stretch. I did some comparison reading and reviews on rtings.com as well as other sites before purchasing so I had an idea of the AirPods Pro and Sennhesiser PXC 550 before purchase.

AirPods Pro

To me the AirPods sounded just like their wired version, I couldn't notice a difference. They did hurt my ears (still haven't figured out why as the size comparison between these and the wired versions is near identical - maybe the extra weight). I bought the AirPod Pros for $250 and when I excitedly received them in the mail I stuck them in and they sounded REALLY good! Maybe it's the shape of my inner ear or something but after 10 minutes I could definitely tell they were in my ears. I swapped out tips for all of the various sizes and found the large tips felt the most comfortable but I could still definitely tell there was something in my ears - not like other reviews I have read where folks said they forgot they were in. I found the ANC on these to be fantastic and the control scheme with the "sticks" and setup/usage to be on-par with an Apple product. If you're already in the Apple ecosystem these work wonderfully well when moving between devices (like running with them on my Apple Watch). The portability of these things is a huge selling point as I can fit them in the coin pocket of my jeans! I did however, end up returning them (sadly) though as they made my head feel "muddy" - I can't think of a better word atm, YMMV greatly on this though.

Sennheser PXC 550

Next up, the Senn PXC 550 which I found on Amazon for $180 (as previous commenters have mentioned there's a v2 just released). These are extremely comfortable headphones with amazing battery life. The ANC though is about half as good as the AP Pros, even when turned up to high (it has two levels), I did notice the same "pressurized" feeling as the AirPods Pro - I initially thought it was just the AirPods but now realize it's the ANC at work. I didn't find the AirPods Pro venting to be helpful to me, but I'm just one person. As a glasses wearer I find them to be very comfortable and not press into my temples and I can wear these things for hours. I've tested them with music, podcasts, and phone calls and everything sounds great. I haven't taken them out of my house yet but I suspect walking around with them and traveling would be not nearly as much fun or enjoyable since I can't fit them in my pocket.

Even with the slight bit of pain from the AirPod Pros I am reconsidering purchasing them again - they're that good! I hope this helps with your decision, both of these headphones are great but have different selling points. Let me know if you need more detail on a different aspect of either of these two models.

I tend to agree with /u/Argosy37 here. I personally have a set of IEMs instead, but have some friend that swear by NC headphones.

There's a middle ground for people in the market for headphones with active NC though. Sennheiser's PXC550 have similar noise cancellation with better overall sound quality for about the same price as Bose's QC35 models.

Sennheiser PXC 550s. Noise cancelling and wireless. Also great for the NYC subway.

I love this one but can not find charging dock Bluetooth headphones.

I have an earlier version os these. The photo looks like "C" connector, but not a clue

https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PXC-550-Wireless-Cancelling/dp/B01E3XLNA0/ref=sr_1_16?crid=24IOLBEL8P1FB&keywords=overtheear+headphones+bluetooth&qid=1574430537&sprefix=overtheear+%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-16

Battery life is a critical aspect to look for.

I posted this over on /r/Parkinsons Best to have the Aware in Care Kit, Medications, and be ready for those emergencies. A friend broke her wrist, once healed did a 200-mile hike in Spain. Back home, tripped and shattered her shoulder! Ouch.

Your best bet would be Sennheiser PXC550(250$ and can be folded up if neccesary) or Sony wh-1000M3(350$ but has the best sound quality of the noise cancelling headphones on the market in that price range. They aren't as portable though)

u/UrbanAdapt · 1 pointr/HeadphoneAdvice

The Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless, the over ear noise cancelling smart headphone contemporary to the XM2 and QC 35 series 1 are being heavily discounted right now on amazon. The new budget alternative from Phillips are also being discounted at a slight better price.

Sennheiser has these and these.

Sony has these.

Bang & Olufen has these and these.

Bose has these

Bowers and Wilkins has these.

And they all feature the temple-fold joint, which makes them incredibly compact.

The PXC550 is currently on sale on amazon.de

u/thegammaray · 1 pointr/AVexchange

> These retail for around $350 so this is a pretty good deal in my opinion.

Just FYI, Amazon sells them for $230 brand new and for $170 refurbed. You might have better luck if you drop the price. (I'm not actually interested. Just saw your post.)

How can they be better than MM-550X? I have bought those twice over the last 4-5 years and those are pure perfection. What is there to improve?

Edit: I have just found a "new gen" of my MMX, this PXC-550. Well I know what I'll buy when my MMX goes away :-)

Edit 2: Do they have built in battery? I really enjoyed having a new charged battery ready to swap with the old one in my MMX.

Probably you'd be looking for something more along the lines of the [Sennheiser PXC 550] (https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PXC-550-Wireless-Bluetooth/dp/B01E3XLNA0/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1483326924&sr=1-1&keywords=Sennheiser+PXC+550), but it'd be preferred by everyone if you use the format.
