As far as rigging your camera goes, I'm a big fan of SmallRig gear. You can get a [starter cage for just $125.99] (https://www.amazon.com/SmallRig-Camera-Video-Canon-Clamp/dp/B01DOWRFMG//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20) to get started. [Here] (https://youtu.be/S5g1VSMIDIE) is a video from SmallRig showing how to attach the cage to the camera. The demonstration also shows how [15mm rods] (https://www.amazon.com/SmallRig-Aluminum-M12-30cm-Camera-System/dp/B00AZFPK2I//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20) and a [top handle] (https://www.amazon.com/SmallRig-Cheese-Handle-Build-Microphone/dp/B01AHOSZBY//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20) can be attached to the cage.
For a little over $1500, this setup should give you a high quality image and decent sound.
Hope this is helpful and good luck with your doc!
Anyone ever use the Smallrig Canon C100 cage? I have been on the fence about getting a cage for C100. Or rather on larger cameras, do you recommend a cage?

For a run and gun style do the cages end up getting too bulky? Or do you just cut down on the camera as much as possible?

Thanks!
