Just so you know, the battery in those gameboy games is a CR2025. They are pretty cheap and easy to replace.

Buy a CR2025, open it up, and replace it.
Its really really easy. Pop open the cartridge (just one screw on the back and it opens up easily); one side is just plastic, everything else is glued to the other side. Pry the leads off of the battery (takes a bit of force because they're soldered, but nothing extreme), pop a new battery in (its actually literally a CR2025 watch battery), reattach the leads by gluing/taping them down, and close it up.
Took me about 30 minutes. You don't even go near anything critical to game function, the battery is off in the top corner. The worst part is finding a bit to remove the screw since its a weird unique Nintendo shape.
