If you want to keep the camcorder style, the DVX200s sound great. If you want to switch things up a bit, you could get 2 Sony A7sii and a few lenses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

The 18-105 http://amzn.to/2iyRkxU is a considerably better option as long as you can do without 200mm. The 70-300 f4.5-f5.6 http://amzn.to/2jQMqND is longer and good for outdoors. The 70-200 f4 is a little shorter but has excellent image quality and bigger aperture http://amzn.to/2iyS5a1 . The 24-70 f2.8 http://amzn.to/2iyUdPn and 70-200 f2.8 http://amzn.to/2j0VKib are the top of the game, but also insanely expensive.

If money is tighter, the 18-105 is an easy recommendation - it gives you a lot for a reasonable price. If you need that extra reach and don't mind paying for it... either of the 70-200's are quite excellent.

Hells yeah. I have the 24 - 70 and 70 - 200 . I just need the 12 - 24 and the holy trinity is completed.

/u/XCopPI - For what you need to do, I recommend the [$2198 Sony A7s] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JIWXTXG/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00JIWXTXG&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) ([£1449 in the UK] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KPV1RW4/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B00KPV1RW4&linkCode=as2&tag=hybrcamerevo-21)) with a [$1498 Sony 70-200mm f4 FE lens] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I8BICEO/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00I8BICEO&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) ([£979 in the UK] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00G9UJW36/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B00G9UJW36&linkCode=as2&tag=hybrcamerevo-21)).

You can record to AVCHD with this camera. XAVC-S is optional.

With this setup, you should be able to capture your subjects in extremely low light settings, as seen here:

  • [LA by Night - Sony a7s II - Low Light Extreme Telephoto Downtown Los Angeles Skyline] (https://youtu.be/xekYt6GZxhs?t=1m35s) (shot with the A7s II, but A7s is just as good in low light)

  • [Lison et le chat] (https://vimeo.com/108644103) (recorded in AVCHD)

  • [Project Moonlight - Downhill skateboarding under the full moon - Sony A7s] (https://youtu.be/prB2Uo33c98) (shot in moonlight)

This camera can pretty much see in the dark.

Hope this is what you're looking for and best of the holidays!

Hmmm...pricing this - doesn't seem any cheaper than the camcorder option ($4,000):

a6500: $1,800
70 200 mm: $1,700
Ninja-2: $1,300

That's actually more expensive...$4,800

Sorry, am I missing something? I thought this was to be a cheaper solution...?

There must be a cheaper way - I'm really not concerned about video quality - 1080 should be more than enough ... considering an iPhone records the video just fine - we just need to get the audio in to some video...

Thanks again!

They have stuff like this.

And it's so confusing cause when you research "Sony G Lens" all you see are links to their G Master series
