In your OP you mentioned 120v.
These are 12v. It’s actually pretty unusual to see 120v versions of these, they’re usually GU10 fitting at that voltage so your confusion is understandable.
The fact you’ve put 10x the voltage though the bulb is almost certainly the reason for it turning projectile.
Get 120v bulbs . Problem solved. You’re welcome.
