Welded cast may not survive much torque or a good beating on. I have a 5" Wilton mechanics vice, but while looking it up I found this one at 1/3 the price. This looks like a good buy with a lot of consumer satisfaction reviews. Anyway, good luck.
What a sorry excuse for a website. I have a Tekton 4" vise, do you know if it will even work or if I will need a press plate with it? There's not a single way to contact them other than over the phone, and there's no FAQ section or even adequate information anywhere.
A bench vise or are you talking about a woodworking clamp like a moxon vise? I just have a cheap bench vise like this one - screwed into the framing with 3" deck screws and washers (could use lag screws if you want). Just get one with a mounting flange on the bottom as opposed to clamp-on style.
