This sub is full of nonsensical bullshit. I can't head that off at the pass, but I can correct it when it shows up.

The question of cigarette filters is well-researched at this point. The exposure of cigarette company archives during the suits leading up to the MSA gives us decades of evidence that they were always decorative.

The cigarette companies earnestly wished to produce a filter that yielded improved health outcomes, but it wasn't feasible. The best they could do was an acetate filter dipped in a solution to turn it brown when exposed to smoke :(

P.S. Some very cool books were written based upon the material unearthed by lawsuits.
