Sounds like you could troubleshoot that front jack or you could just buy an extension cable for $6 so you can run off the back port and call it a day.

Here it is. Poor lighting with the monitor on haha... basically a lead from the back of the PC, wraps around the monitor, then I plug my headphones into that port. Gives it some flexibility and also will pull straight out instead of at an angle from the back or top of the pc.

These are SUPER cheap too. Just search around and you can find one that fits you well.

Do you have a budget? Almost all microphones after $40 have removable cables.

If you have a low budget. You could always buy a 3.5mm extension and a 3.5mm jack and solder it onto one of those cheap desktop microphones from a business depot or walmart.

I just picked up the SONY ECM-CS3 to replace my Zalman mic, and everyone says I sound much clearer now. It's also much easier to manage since the clip fits my headphone cord perfectly. Be sure to get an extension cable if you do pick this up as the cord is incredibly short.

Something like: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LM4ON3I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's mainly for cellphones, but works perfectly on the PC too.

Why would you need a usb sound card? Why not just get a 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female extension? Like this

You can get a longer replacement 5x8 cable from Sennheiser or just get a 3.5mm extension cable

Hey Op, James from Antlion Audio here, sounds like you may have some environmental EMI that is causing some issues. I would suggest a better shielded extension cable such as https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Extension-Adapter-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00LM4ON3I/. One of the issues we had with the ModMic 5 is with all those 3.5mm connections it really opened it up for EMI. Drop me DM if you have any questions or need a bit more help.

I can't think why you'd be getting a humming due to the headphones having a 4 pole connector; it's supposed to be designed so that if something can't use the mic it's just bypassed. more likely that you're getting a hum due to the tv having a not-great DAC (digital to audio converter). Any 3.5mm male to female extension should work fine, and you shouldn't need to worry about it being 4 pole on either end.

What you're needing

Just buy a 3.5mm male to female extender cable that has a low profile. Something like this should work.

This if you need shorter.

Not going to find a cheap extender with inline remote though.

What headphone/earphone are you using at the moment?
