I gotchu fam. I have one on the way I'll let you know how it works. I've used one that only has 3.5mm in and it was fine.

Apple is still retarded, my car has bluetooth and I have an android, it's as a gift for someone who has a car without AUX or bluetooth

Bluetooth FM Transmistter

I don't have an AUX port in my car, but I want to listen to my phone audio over my car speakers. So I bought that. My phone pairs its BT to it and it transmits an FM signal. I tune my car radio to that FM signal and can hear the phone's audio now. Neat. I can choose the broadcast frequency too, so I choose 106.7 FM because there's no radio station in my area on that frequency. I'm guessing the broadcast range is like 15-20 feet.

What's weird to me is that if you're listening to the radio, say 100.7 FM, and some nimrod drives by you and you hear their shit, they've chosen to broadcast over an existing frequency in your area rather than finding an unused one. I always assumed I'd get a better signal if I wasn't competing with an actual radio station in my city, so I chose an unused frequency. If you drove by me listening to static on 106.7 FM you'd hear my audiobook once you got close to me.

Check out fm Bluetooth adapters. I’ve been using a couple of these for a few years.

Is it the adapter to connect to iPhone/iPod?

Cheaper suggestion will be using FM transmitter like this one. But the sound quality isn’t as good as Bluetooth or wired. It will cost you $15-30

If you spend a more, you can change the whole head unit. Maybe something like this JVC. If you install it yourself, it will cost you around $100.

If you are keeping this car for another few year, i suggest change the headunit, it will give you more flexibility in the future. If you're planning to trade it or sell it in the near future, get the FM transmitter.

You can use any one, but just make sure it has Bluetooth 5.0

You can buy one of those radio transmitters that have a aux hook up. I think amazon has them for less than 20 dollars and all you do is plug it in and it works.

This is just and example

get this $18 bluetooth transmitter if you want bluetooth streaming rather than aux cord, since phones are ditching that for some reason... anyway it works great

Haven't tried this, but it looks to fit the bill of your needs: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07DFBHDBT/ -- Anker Roav SmartCharge F3

Here's another option, but I'm not sure our first-gens have enough clearance at the 12V port: https://smile.amazon.com/VicTsing-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Wireless-Hand-Free/dp/B01K7OHDKS/ -- VicTsing Bluetooth FM Transmitter

Connect to the device via Bluetooth, and then connect to the car via fm radio? Or aux to android port cord instead of a dongle.

This is the one I have. It's worked great for me so far, doesn't seem cheap and super easy to use/consistent.
