> How many of you with a wheel are going to be using a shifter?

Probably never because I'm into GT3 and GTE cars mostly and those cars have paddle shifters IRL. I even sold my G29 shifter because I used it only once in 1 year. I don't bother switching from class to class as it only distracts from being competitive. I like to be competitive, thus I choose a class that I like, master it to the very perfection and race. If I get bored with it, only then I may decide to switch to something else.

> presents an opportunity to learn. It may not be 100%

As you said, it will never be up to 100% accurate to IRL. First thing first, there is no clutch out there that would simulate a real catching point for each car. I have Fanatec ClubSport V3 pedals and the clutch feels somewhat in the direction to what real car would have but it is still way too far from what you get in real car. Next, the shifter, it's also way too far from real car shifter, especially shifters like Logitech wheels have. To me it feels too much of a toy and it really bothers me. That is also another reason why I never used cars in game with manual gearboxes.

I had exactly [this wheel mount that you posted:] (https://www.amazon.ca/Steering-Wheel-Stand-Pro-included/dp/B004AYMCRG/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_lp_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=41BPR9NJ7CX41PNEYKF5)
It is an alright mount and is sturdy. However, honestly, don't bother with this. I used it for 3 month and realized I made a mistake when buying one because I found [this Playseat for just CDN$ 389.99:] (https://www.amazon.ca/PlaySeat-REM-00008-Playseat-Evolution-Alcantara/dp/B009ZELZ7O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505830725&sr=8-1&keywords=playseat)
and it is really worth it. Here is my setup

I bought this back in 2013 to use with my DK2 and Logitech G27 and it still works great.

Nice thing is you can fold it down and put it away easily for when you have people coming over and don't want to look like an ultra-dork. Too bad Logitech discontinued the G27 and now they sell for $800+ on Amazon.

EDIT -
It also gives you pretty much the best possible seated experience with Elite: Dangerous by having a Saitek X52 (same model of joystick and very similar throttle in the cockpit unless they changed it). Since it's only designed for a wheel, I got a rectangular wooden board and screwed it into the top part where the wheel is connected in the pictures, that way I can have a joystick/throttle or wheel/gear shifter along with room for a mouse and small wireless keyboard.

I've found that being able to position your controls exactly where they need to be in the virtual space is crucial for immersion in seated experiences, especially after being used to motion controls...it's bad enough not seeing your characters hands move when you take them off the wheel, etc.

I swear I don't sell these or anything, I'm sure you could make something similar if you were gifted enough but I saw a few upvotes so thought the extra info might be helpful.

I bought this bad boy, not real expensive. I beat and mash on it all day then it folds up to go under my desk. Very sturdy, read the reviews.

Wheel Stand Pro

You can get a wheelstand. I ended up getting one and it's great.

EDIT: This is the one I got.

It's a wheel stand you can buy on amazon (beware of price). I'm actually using it backwards since I'm disabled and my feet wouldn't reach the pedals if they stood on the frame as intended. But the thing is specially made for G27 so it screws in with Allen wrenches. That fucker won't move and folds with the wheel in place. I also modded the wheel a small bit. heres how I modded it sry my shitty voice isn't for everybody. Throat surgery and disabilities and all that.

edit here's the stand on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Steering-Wheel-Stand-Pro-included/dp/B004AYMCRG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1410923176&sr=8-2&keywords=Wheel+stand

I got this for my G27 awhile back; best purchase I've ever made.

The first one looks pretty old, like in the earlier days of playseat stands, while it is cheap, is probably not worth it, you'll end up regretting it. It has a flawed design as pointed out by others where the bar connecting the wheel to the stand will only get in the way. Reviews also say that the stand is too light and moves with pedals are pressed and that g27s keep falling off the stand.

The wheel stand pro v2 is, IMO, the better of the two and worth the extra money. I have owned one for nearly a year, still the best purchase I ever made, besides the g27 itself. This model is pre-drilled for a g27 meaning you can bolt it to the stand and it is completely solid. The only thing going anywhere is me going backwards in my office chair (Need to take the wheels off my chair...).

Consider one of these or one of these first.

Definitely build a mounting solution/cockpit if you have the chance, there or some great DIY guides out there. However, live in an apartment with no access to tools/no construction skills. So i just got on of these http://www.amazon.com/Racing-Steering-Wheelstand-Logitech-Deluxe-Original/dp/B004AYMCRG.

It's pretty stable and folds really compact for storage.

u/pbgu1286 · 1 pointr/PS4

Yeah, I think I am going to end up returning it and picking this up: https://www.amazon.com/Steering-Wheel-Stand-Pro-included/dp/B004AYMCRG.

Ill try it out when it gets here but if it's wobbly or cheaply made it's going back.

u/glassdragon · 1 pointr/Vive

Logitech g920 kit, and a wheel stand pro to put it on.

u/HaMMeReD · 1 pointr/PSVR

It's a logitech G29 wheel/pedals and a playseat.

The wheel is about $500. If you buy the optional shifter, that's another $80. A playseat will run you another $500+ depending on what you get.

I have same setup + shifter, but not a playseat, I use this
https://www.amazon.ca/Steering-Wheel-Stand-Pro-included/dp/B004AYMCRG/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1482809916&sr=1-3&keywords=playseat

Because I don't have room for a dedicated chair, and the stand I linked folds up nicely for storage.

Edit: Amazon tells me the 3 together (my stand + shifter + wheel/pedals) runs in at $690cad.

Is it worth it? I can't really say, depends on how much you like to race. I can say that the pedals/shifter are pretty much worthless without a stand or playseat. Every desk I've ever had was woefully inadequate at keeping attached. Bolting it all into place on a rigid/heavy frame makes a huge difference.

u/burnmatoaka · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Just went back to my Amazon purchase history and I'm kind of surprised I paid so much for the Wheel Stand Pro. It is VERY nice, however and included all tools and hardware. The base combined with the pedals is hefty enough that it stays in place in nearly every situation and the center pole really doesn't get in my way at all, even when using left-foot braking. With everything attached to it you can fold it up into a not too compact package that's at least small enough to throw in a closet. What I find nice is that it consolidates three pain-in-the-ass-to-setup pieces of hardware into something I never have to disassemble when I'm done playing.

I also considered this which seems like a nice compromise at half the price. I went with the more expensive one because I wanted something that I could fold up and move around a lot without worrying about breaking the adjustment hardware. I also like the separate shifter plate on the Wheel Stand Pro because I found it annoying having it on the same plane the wheel is clamped to.

If you're the crafty type you could easily build a bulkier and less elegant stand in an afternoon out of $30 worth of lumber. Google "diy wheel stand" for ideas.

How does this work without a combining stick/“car” frame to hold it together?

I bought it anyway, but I’m wondering how well it works just sitting on a desk, or am I trapped into buying something like this:

This is the one I ordered

Here is the one I got and I've gotta say it's wonderful. I mounted my gear shift onto a table because I like it to be lower than that placement, but other than that it's a wonderful rig.

u/Cjo1992 · 1 pointr/xboxone

I bought this and I can sit on my couch comfortably https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004AYMCRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_c94RBbMKT0GXR

Ok playing Elite Dangerous just need to make some brackets to hold my Saitek X52 pro and next month I'm get one of these to hold my g27 to play project cars. For room scale game I push the chair to side of my room, it's on castors. This gives me a 2x2m play space.

u/castledbc · 1 pointr/F1Game

I just mounted the 924 seat rails to the plywood and then attached the wheel/pedal stand to the plywood as well.

This is the stand I bought I think: https://www.amazon.com/Wheel-Stand-Pro-Steering-included/dp/B004AYMCRG/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=Steering+wheel+and+pedal+stand&qid=1562810872&s=gateway&sr=8-4

Works great!
