Try something like compression calf sleeves

Compression socks all the way!! I bought a bunch of these and love them so much. My left leg also has some varicose veins starting so this is why I initially went with compression stockings but these truly make my legs feel ‘lifted’ they take a little to get used to but your legs will thank you

These are my favorite - not hot on the foot, and smalls are actually small.

I like my compression sleeves I had when pregnant. They are for working out.

I had the exact same thing, this thing made life so much easier. That and a little Ibuprofen before the run.

I got these and really like them. I also got a pair with the sock part at Walgreens. But those are less tight and don’t work as well.

I'm having this same problem and I understand. I like the bruises when I'm walking around the gym, but they are annoying in skirts and dressy shorts. I've been looking into getting something like these padded compression sleeves.

Edit: go on Amazon and search "deadlift shin" -- tons of good (and cute) options!

Rest and buy a pair of these compression sleeves.

Ice every evening and gently massage.

Try using calf sleeves. I got mine 2 weeks ago and it dramatically reduced my sheen splints and allowed me to jump for a longer time and more frequent. this is the ones I got: https://www.amazon.com/Advantage-Knitted-Sleeve-Black-Anthracite/dp/B071GT56X9/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1522792056&sr=8-7&keywords=nike+calf+sleeve

These calf compression sleeves helped me a lot:

Regular stretching also helped, as others have stated. The one that seems to help me the most is sitting on my butt touching my toes. Legs straight with feet together, pull tows towards you and hold, and push toes away and hold. I do that with my toes together, toes apart with heels together (make a V), and toes together with heals apart.

I hate shin splints, and lived with them for too long. Now that I do this, I only have issues if I forget to wear the compression sleeves or don't take my time breaking in new basketball shoes.

Also, these are the compression stockings I bought. Doc Miller is a good brand.

I haven't bought new shoes, but I did buy these. They feel great on, and the product got good reviews, so I'm optimistic that they'll help, but I haven't tried them out yet because I'm giving my shins a bit more time to heal before I get back into things.

Hope you find a solution to your problem!

Yes! My friend recommended them after having a similar problem. I got these ones. I'm not sure if they're better or worse than others, but I'll be sure to post updates here and/or MFP after a couple of runs.

Pretty cheap. That's a pair not each. Sizing is weird so order big. I've been using them for 3 weeks and they have completely eradicated my shin splints.

I run in these compression sleeves, which I think have done wonders for my shin splints.

I also use this arm band for my phone. It's very secure, but the actual band was too long so I had to fold it over and stitch it to make it shorter. I have skinny arms though.

I also have these bluetooth headphones because I'm a clumsy runner and kept yanking wired headphones out of my own ears. I've had them about 6 months and they work great. Two criticisms: they're a bit heavy, but really no big deal, and you have to maintain pretty much line-of-sight with your phone or they cut out (a pocket is fine, a wall is not). Not an issue while running obviously, but I often wander off when I'm listening to something at home.

I used to get insane shin splints when I first started running.

Stretch before and after a run of course.

Throw out your cheap Walmart shoes. Make an investment in some good shoes. They do not need to be insanely priced, they just have to over some good support.

The biggest thing that helped me was compression sleeves. They cost me about $40 but I've had the same pair for 3 years. They are amazing and now I don't even have to use them more.

Looks like they've gotten cheaper or I have bad memory

u/ahorribleidea · 1 pointr/hockeyplayers

I've never had shin splints while skating, but I used to get them a lot while running.
What I found took care of them was:

  • wearing compression leggings

  • Stretching my shins and calves thoughly before I ran

  • (the hard part) Any time they were hurting I would not run till they felt better to give them a chance to heal, and ice them and take ibuprofen to help with the healing.

Good luck! Shin splints suck and are incredibly frustrating.

I bought several pair from Amazon -- the ones I like are by Thirty48. I also had previously bought some Zensah ones on sale at REI.

u/Gretna20 · 0 pointsr/triathlon

Ive used these and they do seem to help hold off cramping during ultimate frisbee and reduce soreness during long runs.

u/sitdownrando-r · 0 pointsr/cycling

I don't wear them for the same reason, but I use compression leg sleeves when doing some rides. They're not like leg warmers either as they dont provide any real warmth.
