Hmmm companies do extensive studies before putting out products and they add preservatives accordingly. That being said, try to ser if you can find something similar at a health store (example: compostable spoons )

Put it into jars and tie a little tasting spoon like these onto it with a ribbon.

When I was in college, the dining halls used biodegradable corn starch flatware, like these.

They aren't very pretty, but they are eco-friendly (compostable even!) and don't have any sort of taste or anything. I do remember if you left them in soup overnight they'd start to dissolve a little, but they were always sturdy while I was using them.

Here is the Amazon.com version of the page that has the review /u/inssein quoted.

This is what I see when I go to the Amazon.ca page in Microsoft Edge. It seems Amazon has a beta feature that shows reviews from other versions of their site.

I love using little spoons as spatulas! I bought a pack of 100 of these and they're absolutely perfect. I also love to eat ice cream with them because it's fun to eat with tiny things :)

we had cornstarch ones in college too. They were pretty cool as well!

That stirrer will work fine, but it's probably overkill for this application. That is more for degassing. A simple long handled spoon would also work and be cheaper. The handles of spoons like this will fit through the neck of a carboy.

There is no other way that I'm aware of for a home winemaker to reliably check the completeness of MLF then doing a chromatography test. They are expensive, but usually come with enough supplies to run many tests. And I think the process is kind of fun. But I'm a chemistry geek.

This kit is a little cheaper at $60: hhttp://www.piwine.com/chromatography-test-kit-vertical-paper.html

Forgive me, but you're joking right?

I mean it's on amazon haha. I just never see people using it. Maybe I don't eat out that much.

Did you take a taste of something at Costco, or a flavor of ice cream? It appears to be a sampler spoon.

Edit: One of these, just a different design:
