Yup. I bought one.

The writing is generally good, but the art often leaves a lot to be desired. That said, there's some great stories here and a lot of really interesting concepts (that unfortunately end up being retconned out each time a new movie arrives). You get the first Klingon in Starfleet, Kirk and co. commanding the Excelsior, a wild Mirror Universe invasion storyline, lots of character growth for Saavik, etc. Honestly, it's worth a read even though the art isn't as good as other Trek series have offered.

If you don't mind digital and want to read it cheap, you can get that series (and many others) in this collection here: https://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Complete-Comic-Collection/dp/B001B5KYR2/

$239 but I'm in the UK so £196. It's not the latest version but I'm not made of money.

Looks like you can get it on DVD from amazon.

u/dougiebgood · 3 pointsr/startrek

If you don't mind reading them on your PC, there's this CD-Rom which has every comic from every publisher up until 2002.

All of them are scanned onto 2-page PDFs, so its not the easiest to read at times, but they're all there.

I'm not home so I can't check, but I bought a dvd set of X-Men comics some time ago. I think it was http://www.amazon.com/40-Years-X-Men-Complete-Collection/dp/B000E28UT2

I'll report back later to compare the coloring.

(For those considering purchasing this, note it only includes Uncanny X-Men; it gets frustrating to read when they start doing story arcs crossing with other comic series.)

It's only $6.99 on Amazon!!!

Work on tactics. I improved substantially using this software: http://www.amazon.com/CT-ART-Chess-Tactics-Training-Software/dp/1886846677

My man! Where did you find them? I got a CD full of them back in the 90's as a part of some kind of 10-pack software/shareware collection. I remember it brought a DOOM demo, after dark screen saver collection, wolfenstein 3d, a font pack, a really old version of print master gold, and a few other random things.

I would LOVE to get my hand on those after dark collections. Care to share? PM me?

I managed to pick up this collection from a Half Price Books but I've only read a handful of the stories so far. I really liked The Gorn Crisis from Wildstorm comics and most of the monthly comics for each series from marvel that I've read. I also like most of the IDW comics, like Blood Will Tell. Some aren't the best, like Hive, but are still enjoyable and the art is usually good. Romulans: Pawns of War is another good IDW story, and I've really enjoyed the ongoing series for the reboot films.

u/Hraesvelg7 · 2 pointsr/todayilearned

There are collections like that.

u/nicnicnotten · 2 pointsr/comicbooks

Everything I have in print, I've also pirated so I can read them on my iPad. I've bought some of those DVDs that contain an entire book's run (X-Men, Avengers etc.). And I pirate the latest issues of the series I read while I wait for the TPB to be released, since it can take forever for stuff to be released in TPB or even Hardcover (I'm looking at you DC).

I don't think I've pirated any books I didn't plan on buying as soon as it was available, or already purchased.

The DVD by GIT Corp. is slightly easier on the wallet. It's a shame Marvel pulled the licensing rights to these. I was really hoping to get full color runs of Daredevil and Thor.

Otherwise the black and white Essential X-Men, although even they look pricey now and make the DVD look like a bargain.

Yes

But you might have to hurry. I can imagine them running out.

Dan Heisman and Jon Edwards have both exhaustively searched the fried liver attack (Nxf7) and found it to be winning for white. Jon Edwards published an article in Chess Life on white's good winning chances. Later he published a book on the refutation, stating that black is lost.

Dan Heisman writes that "the Fried Liver Attack 6.Nxf7 is the best line". This is backed up by his analysis or from amazon (same analysis) where he concludes that white has stronger winning chances in the Fried Liver, as black holds his position in the Lolli attack.

My own research shows that after 6 ..Be6 black will equalize. I'm too tired to upload my research now, so I will instead refer to Dan's research. Heisman believes in his video that in the Lolli 6 ..Nxd4 will equalize with best play.

Even if it doesn't, both sources agree that Fried Liver is stronger than the Lolli

This research took me a long time to compile. If you believe it, please upvote this to the top; as I believe that it not only answers the Lolli/Fried Liver controversy, but these sources also answer the OP's question on how to continue with the Fried Liver attack.

For some time I have been wanting to buy the complete Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer collection on DVD-ROM, but I've just always been skint whenever I remember about it. There's also a similar X-Men compilation

I'm sure you could pirate it, but with 750 issues on there it's less than 7 cents per comic, and you're supporting the publisher. I pirate stuff myself, but even to me it seems immoral to do so when the publisher themselves is providing such good value. I guess you could always "trail" it online, and buy when you have some spare cash.

I did a screenshot from the dvd that I ordered from Amazon, linked in another comment. Here are pages 1 and 2 from that specific book!

u/ChoiceD · 1 pointr/startrek

That's cool, I had never heard of this. It lists for 24.99 USD on Amazon. Good deal for the content, I would say.

u/JimKB · 1 pointr/comics

yu can get entire collections on dvd like this

u/AviatorHathawayBrown · 1 pointr/startrek

Found this on Amazon a couple years ago. Relived my childhood on my iPad for $25. And I finally got an answer to why the comics disappeared mid-storyline by reading the editor's letters. Star Trek: The Complete Comic Book Collection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001B5KYR2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_nZT7wb5X8ASGD

Amazon doesnt have to be in your country. Items sold by marketplace sellers can shipped anywhere (if the seller is willing to open to international shipping).

If downloading / internet is a limiting factor consider the DVD-ROM collection

Trust me, my company does this every other week:

You don't want to do it if you have no idea what you do. Pay the monthly fee and use Office365

If your boss doesn't like this:

To run an Exchange Server properly you need a new device (or virtual machine) since Exchange Servers tend to hog the hardware ressources which itself costs you around 1000 bucks.

Now you need an OS $750 on amazon

Microsoft Exchange $400

You should get a SSL License for around $80

Plus you need AV software for the server

Things you also need which you might already have:

Domain (rented per month)

Static IP (dyndns)

And of course Outlook 10*$220
