Funny that this came up in my feed as I was just presenting this to the registration department for a nearby hospital. The first thing to do is to indicate that they are in a trans-inclusive environment. An LGBT Ally pin like this would also be great to have on you. If you have seen gender 'X' on their ID or their ID doesn't match their gender presentation, make a positive comment. Like I would have never known, or that one of your best friends in trans, etc. I know it can be critical to know what you are dealing with healthwise and very quickly. Then ask them what is their preferred name and what was their gender assigned at birth. That right there is the most critical question. Then you can ask questions like, are they on HRT as that can change things on how to treat certain conditions. I hope this helps as it's a little different in a hospital setting with inclusive language posted in the ER or registration area.

I honestly think you're shilling these all wrong because you're missing the whole point. You keep downplaying that they are magnetic but thats the main selling point of the product.

There are plenty of options for locking pin backs out there (those are three different links), and these screw-on types are actually reviled by many for warping the studs on the back of pins, or leaving dents on it.

Again, the ability to turn pins into magnets is absolutely brilliant. Locking pin backs is not new territory.

They have tiny screws that need a teeny tiny allen wrench. You tighten the back around the pin to hold it in place, and its extremely stable and strong. But if you loose the micro allen wrench, you might be screwed. I got a pack of 10 or something for $10. These were the ones I got: Here
