EDIT: how about this from TSG? http://www.amazon.com/TSG-Protective-Downhill-Freeride-Protector/dp/B00VKV90SG
My friends and I are idiots and will go tear up a golf course path at 2am, so have learned to gear up with appropriate pads on such rides. May seems overkill to some, but takes two seconds to put on under a shirt and has saved us countless serious injuries. Get well soon and check out some pads like these for more aggressive rides:

No foam in Tekvest - Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) plastic
Bonus - Made in Canada!

There's a video of a snocross rider getting a snowmobile dropped on him over a jump...he survived. He was wearing a Tekvest. Again - not going to stop everything - nothing does - but definitely stands up to punishment.

I bought this
Don't be put off by the picture. It looks like a weird wetsuit material but its not. It's meshed and really comfortable and breathable. Also, all the padding can be removed so you can make it fit an external back brace, neck brace or certain elbow pads.
I use mine with a leatte neck brace and its awesome. The shoulder pads are hard and the rest is the elastopolymer foam that hardens on impact. I've not taken any serious spills, but I have fallen and been absolutely fine.
Main thing, for me, is it feels well padded all over the thorax and its comfy. And compared to others, not that expensive.
sometimes the "foam" is actually a special material that hardens on impact:

\^This uses D30, which hardens on impact but you can easily bend with your hand. And I can wear it under a jersey to avoid the storm trooper look.
The suit of fox body armour you linked is hard shell and not necessarily better.
Never thought of that, honestly. I was already so used to 50 degree weather lol. I also have this for super hot days. Its mesh in between the armor which is CE grade, so the wind goes right through it. Its a blessing on days where the heat index is 100+
Oh I just bought them. I'm wearing two layers of armor. I bought a TMS motorcycle armor jacket off of Amazon, and an airsoft vest off another site. Links:
