Cool! If you get some reusable cloth bags, you won't have to create so much plastic waste :)
Paper are pretty common -- you often get offered choice of paper or plastic -- but most of the time now the paper ones have handles, like this. They are surprisingly strong -- especially when stores double bag them.
Or you can get 1,000 shopping bags for $25

Would something like these work? I've ordered from Nashville Wraps before and they are fast and inexpensive. (There are way more in the box than you need, but the price is pretty low for that many, perhaps they can be used by the club for a future event as well.)
You might also try Uline as well, but I didn't see anything that wasn't quite a bit more pricey than the Nashville Wraps bags above.
One other place to try is Joann or Michaels, perhaps you can find some plain gift bags (solid color or similar) to use. Good luck!
Edited to add: Found this on Amazon. 100 for $20 if you're a prime member. (A little more for shipping if you're not.)
I use these and they're pretty good, just not coloured. I suppose a person could dye them. I got them a couple years ago and haven't had one fail me yet.
I use a large polyethylene carry bag as a pack liner (it's like a grocery bag, but larger). You could trim it to make the carry loops long enough to function like a sash. They weigh about 20g, and you could probably cut that by a third with some trimming. Not durable, but cheap and easily patched or reinforced with a bit of tape.

They're in the mail. Although the jury is still out on whether or not Winco will even allow me to use them...
Nah, that's when (for spite) you spend $25 and order 1000 bags off of Amazon and keep those in your car.

Thanks. The paper bags that grocery stores use do look like that, but have handles at the top, like this:

$0.04 / bag here.
Oh no, I meant some people still buy the single use, disposable kinds. You can get them in packs of hundreds and thousands online.

Most who do this use them for dog poop or something, but a few buy them in the spirit of "screw the environmentalist tree hugger hippies." They're probably the same morons who approve of rolling coal.
