Try replacing the clutch. You can also replace the hepa filter.
The clutch is kind of a pain to install but I feel it was worth it. It picks up everything now.
Here's a tutorial on how to replace the clutch.

I'm not sure what model Roomba you have but for my 560-

$27 battery - http://www.amazon.com/Powerextra-trade-Capacity-Battery-510/dp/B00D68H6MS/

$16 brush kit - http://www.amazon.com/iRobot-Roomba-Series-Replenishment-Cleaning/dp/B0027VTHW2/

If that's all your Roomba needs that's $43 and about two minutes of your time to get it in working order again. It'd be even less, but on newer Roombas the battery requires removal of the case which is just a few screws.

I love my Dyson. Got it refurbished off of woot for a great price. I used mine for over 4 years before deciding to replace the battery.

I replaced with this one:

The battery pack looks like it is about $400 and a five years lifespan would be a reasonable guess. http://www.amazon.com/KARCHER-RC3000-RoboCleaner-Battery-Pack/dp/B001D34TI2

try another battery from amazon...you can return it if doesn't fix it (30 day return)

Like I said, I've only had to buy these twice in the six years that I've owned my Neato, so I'd say that's not too bad an expense!

I think that I might've bought a small like, 5 dollar mod for the neato related to its brush...But honestly it was so long ago, I barely remember.

You can buy a Lithium battery upgrade on Amazon. My 550 now lasts for at least an hour with it.

Thank you so much! Something like this? I'm on mobile so I'm not sure if this will show up right.....http://www.amazon.com/Dyson-DC04-DC07-Clutch-System/dp/B0018Y4T7M

Or should I take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

It will only change speeds when running. If it is not changing then it has the wrong type of drive belt on it. Replace it with one of these.

[Here is a better option] (http://www.amazon.com/HitLights-Rechargeable-3800mAh-Lithium-Connector/dp/B007RQW5WG/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1405311237&sr=1-1&keywords=12v+lithium+battery), in my opinion. Or [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Portable-4500mAh-Rechargeable-Battery-Wireless/dp/B008UKKXRC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top) I would also take a look at building your own battery pack [similar to this] (http://www.amazon.com/ExpertPower%C2%AE-3500mAh-Extended-Battery-iRobot/dp/B007V6UL1Y/ref=sr_1_95?ie=UTF8&qid=1405311619&sr=8-95&keywords=14.4v+battery). The first two look like they might even plug right into your amp.

Heck even [this] (http://www.amazon.com/12v-Standscan-Battery-Power-Pack/dp/B00BTGTJPG/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1405312250&sr=1-4&keywords=12v+portable+battery) would work better and be cheaper/lighter if you put some rechargeables in it.

I would want any battery pack around 12-15V. I would also consider getting a [cheaper amplifier] (http://www.amazon.com/LP-2020A-Lepai-Tripath-Class-T-Amplifier/dp/B0049P6OTI/ref=pd_cp_e_0). It uses the same amp chip (ta2020) as the one you posted

Edit: Essentially, I wouldn't want to carry around 7 pounds of lead acid batteries when I could carry much lighter batteries to do the same job.

> And geez, I didn't realize they were so cheap.

http://amzn.com/B00D68H6MS (about $23 for a new battery)

I've had fine luck with buying one of these every 2-3 years for my Roombas to keep them running. I'm much more likely to burn out a gear box due to cat/dog hair (two long-haired cats, one long-haired dog that sheds massively).

When my power supply died for my Roomba 530, it was under warranty, yes.

u/XOXO_HandBanana_XOXO · 1 pointr/roomba

Should be a 650, and it should use this battery pack. There are 3rd party options for the battery available, but as always: buyer beware and you get what you pay for. I would take care to double check however, because I don't recall the 650 charger having a power supply in it's cable.
