Closest thing I could find. Says that it is so you can charge your phone and play music through your car stereo at the same time. Not really sure why you couldn't just use 2 seperate cables for that though.

Would using a combination of this and this work for you?

I wouldn't recommend trying to build a converter yourself. If you leave the data lines on USB floating, the cable will provide 500mA to charge. However, nearly all Apple products will fail to charge on such a configuration, and the newer your product, the more complex your circuit must be. If you want your charger to behave intelligently, prepare for hell.

Edit: I forgot to ask since you mentioned a 30-pin, what kind of phone are we talking about?

There are tons of cables that do exactly what you're wanting. I use this one in my truck and it works perfectly. If you want, you can add a 30-pin to lightning adapter and use it for newer iPods and iPhones, too. If you want RCA instead of 3.5mm, a Google search for "30-pin to stereo RCA USB" will bring up lots more options.

That's an iPhone/iPod port. Best option would be to buy a 30 pin cable and a 3.5mm jack and solder something up yourself. The pinouts are well documented.

Or buy one of these (found via 5 seconds of searching, I'm sure there are better ones out there): https://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Audio-30pin-Cable-Iphone/dp/B00490OVM0

For a pure digital/electrical signal, there's no easy solution.

Yep, it's definitely something like this. Here's an example of one that's more universal, since the audio + USB end isn't one piece with a fixed distance. The one you have is absolutely something proprietary that came with some specific device. Does it have a brand name on it or anything?

Seems like an insanely shitty version of one of these: http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Audio-30pin-Cable-Iphone/dp/B00490OVM0

Basically you could use this in your car if all you had was an Aux jack and not a USB port. USB goes into a 12V adapter to charge and the 3.5mm goes to the Aux.

Your specific cable makes it just about impossible to use, however.

It must have come with a very specific device it was supposed to work with, otherwise it makes no sense at all from a practicality standpoint.

I actually had this one originally:

https://www.amazon.com/Bovee-Wireless-Bluetooth-Interface-Integration/dp/B00B52LLJ6

and that was great because it hooked straight into the iphone connector in my Audi but since the BMW is looking for a usb and aux cord I had to buy a cord to adapt it (https://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Audio-30pin-Cable-Iphone/dp/B00490OVM0).

I would go with the wma3000b as it's all ready to go without the adapters.

This works incredibly well. Sound quality is absolutely perfect. Sounds like it is coming from a wired connection not bluetooth to aux.

Amazon has several different kinds:

Option 1

Option 2

You can still do that with one plug. Get the 30 pin to lightning cable and this: https://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Audio-30pin-Cable-Iphone/dp/B00490OVM0
