I'm not sure how my facial hair compares to yours so ymmv. Here goes.
First, if your hair is pretty long (longer than ~0.25"), you'll need to trim it down a little. You can use scissors or an electric shaver, just make sure to leave something there. Next, I'll grab a razor (this is the one I use) and grab a brand new cartridge. Apply shaving cream to your face and shave downwards, in the direction of growth. Once that's completely done, I'll apply more shaving cream and shave up, against the grain. Don't press down too hard or you'll risk cutting your face up.
This is what's generally worked for me, along with a little orange/red concealer to counteract the blue tint of hair under the skin. But there's really not much to it! Hope this helps :)
Personally I use a Nivea Men shave gel(makes it super smooth and has a great smell) and Dorco razors from Amazon. You can go the Harry's/Dollar Shave Club option, but Dorco is a fantastic company with killer prices. This is the kit I bought.

It's the EXACT same products you'd be getting from DSC, but cheaper. Here's replacement cartridges for cheaper as well. DSC just repackages the blades and marks them up. The only conceivable reason to buy from DSC over Dorco is if you like their marketing and actively want to be marketed to (I wouldn't blame you, their marketing campaign is pretty funny).
Switch to Dorco Pace 4 and being infuriated by Gillette's bad packaging?
(Although actually I only recall seeing this type of packaging for Gillette items at discount warehouses. The equivalent package at Target is much smaller.)
Just get the Dorco ones off Amazon, it's cheaper and simpler.
