Those are very inefficient asic miners -

you will definitely make a negative ROI with them. This is fine if he is doing so for fun or to learn and is aware he will lose money.

>Hey guys,

>I am currently trying to get into the bitcoin mining with the hopes of having a steady output of some satoshis. I am quite aware of the current state of the mining business and have run the calculations. So: I am not looking for a quit break even, I just want a steady flow of like 2000 satoshis a day.

>To achieve that I have purchased two GekkoScience 2-Pac and I intend to get more over time.

>What is missing is the USB hub. I am quite unsure what would be the best pick. What I intend to have is a hub that enables me to have like 5 of these asics pointing upwards and still having at least one, better two, ports free to also run USB fans. And all ports should deliver maximum power (14W) so that I can run the miners on full speed.

>Does anyone have any suggestion for such a hub?

>Short summary for the hub I want:

  • 5 ports for miners
  • 1 or 2 ports for fans
  • at least 14W output for each port
  • ports poiting upwards
  • ports having enough physical space between them so that the all miners will fit

    >I somehow guess that there is not the perfect hub I want. But I hope that at least with the help of you guys I get to the next best fit ;)

    >Thanks in advance!

Is there something bad wrong with this one? Now that I have a solid answer to my core question my goal is to actually do it hehe.

This rx580 will pull OPTIMISTICALLY 30MH/s.

You can do some math on how much you need to spend.

You haven't been able to make any relevant argument, you need to actually put in some research and see why asic-resistance is trying to game the system

If you are really bent on not spending a lot of money on an asic here is one for under $100, cheaper than a video card and uses less electricity too

If you think money is the barrier to entry on asic's you have not done any research

For everyone complaining about never getting a return on investment, I doubt he's mining in a pool. That would be pointless.

However if he's solo mining, he's essentially playing the lottery. All it takes it one lucky hash to find a block (worth $100k for Bitcoin). Statistically, it would take him thousands of years to find a nonce that results in a hash with a high enough difficulty, but statistically, it would take even longer to win the mega millions jackpot.

There's a 1 in 302,575,350 chance of winning mega millions.. If you play every drawing (twice a week), statistically, it would take almost 3 millions years before you win. Yet someone wins almost every drawing.

It would take this guy about 35,000 years (calculated based on odds from this page) to statistically find a block with a cheap usb miner from Amazon. Yes. He has a very small chance of finding a block, but his odds are much higher than playing the state lottery, and at least he's not contributing his money to a corrupt government.
