I have found this combination to be by far the best.

Bluetooth Adapter

Sennheiser OCX 865i

I have been running this setup for a several years without any issues. The adapter works way better than some integrated solution. It relocates the weight to anywhere you want. Gives you headphone choices. Works well outdoors too. (I only use it on runs with my phone but I don't see why it wouldn't work on a ride.) And if your headphones die you only need to replace them.

I wrote a long blog post about this setup some time ago but can't find it anymore. Anyway, I found the battery lasted about 4 hours when it was set to full power with those headphones. The adapter is a generic unit so you will find multiple brands. For example I also have a NoiseHush version. Just make sure to get the one with a micro USB charger. The first gen units had this goofy charger cable that you can't easily replace.

Finally, another nice feature is that the play and skip forward and back buttons do work with at least iOS. I found it extra handy when watching Netflix on my iPad while connected to the TV. I could play/pause the movie from it.

As for the headphones, those are my personal favorite. Good volume, good sound, and nice fit options. I have sets of both the retail and refurb and all are still working well after a lot of use.

I use this and it's never failed me. I get about 5-7 days of ~1.5 hour use every day before I have to recharge it.

I got this: https://www.amazon.com/Jumbl-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Streaming-Receiver/dp/B00UUDZLB0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522794706&sr=8-3&keywords=jumbl

not headphones, and not a wired adapter. certainly less than 30€, and you can use whatever headphones you want, wirelessly. It is an extra thing to charge though.

Absolutely. My wife loves it because she can watch TV while walking around the house doing stuff and she doesn't have to worry about waking the kids.

We got this thing, which is great because we can use any old headphones we like:

I use this little Bluetooth thingie. Image The thing I like over typical bluetooth headphones is the ability to use whatever headphones I want.

Invest 30 bucks in this, not super loud but its good enough and its a third the price of the cheapest sena headset

Reciever Audio Only $16

Speakers $14

This is my setup and I love it only downside is no microphone but I usually ride alone so it doesn't matter to me

Edit: so I recently ordered these

Receiver Mic and Audio $20

Mic $5

Adapter $6

I'm trying to come up with a bluetooth calling set up if anyone is interested I can make a diy on how I put all this together, I will also report the quality of the new parts at a later date

I got these because they're dirt cheap and durable. They're simple so there's not much to break and if they do I don't mind replacing them. They come with different size earpieces so you can pick which fits you. I also wrap the cord around my ear for extra security.

If you want Bluetooth, I just use an adapter like this one. Along the same lines, it's cheap and simple.

This one works fairly well and is $20:

Yes, I have that exact one. I had it plugged into my Aux jack in my car after finding out that it allowed BT voice calls, but not music (A2DP). It works great. Connected to my phone quickly. Not sure how the range is, becasue it was pretty much only used in the car. I was impressed with the battery life, probably 10-12 hours or more. Can be powered/charged while using. Nothing to complain about in terms of sound quality, but it's not like a car on the Interstate is the optimal listening room. Just be sure to turn down the source volume a few notches or it will clip (same goes for all BT devices). It got annoying to turn on and off every time I started the car, so I worked out another solution. Sometimes when trying to turn it off, sometimes it would call the last number in my log, which was very annoying.

Not sure what you're trying to do, but I use this Jumbl clippy BT receiver in the gym. Great range, decent battery and easy to use. Can't workout without it. It keeps my phone out of my pocket where it otherwise might get smashed or fall out of my pocket. I use headphones with a short cord (which I'm dying to replace).

Just search for a bluetooth remote. Then you can use any earphones or even helmet speakers you want.

Sorry, been a bit busy.

The device is either implying wireless, or a microphone.

If it's just wireless, This will give that function to any wired headset.

If it's a microphone This will do the same, as well as a mic for calls.

Oh, I have wireless headphones. I've also had something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Jumbl8482-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Streaming-Receiver/dp/B00UUDZLB0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473456304&sr=8-2&keywords=bluetooth+headphone+adapter forever. I love it. I bought some Kanoa headphones (like EarPods but with a better in-ear fit and waterproof) that I can't wait to arrive.

But I'm not loving having to upgrade a fleet of 2,000 iPhones and decide whether to spend $100 on new dongles for everyone or make everyone spend the money themselves. I'm not loving trying to help a few thousand users figure out how to use their phones.

If it helps, I've been using this for a while anyway. It's a Bluetooth stereo adapter with controls. Lasts 8 hours, charges with micro USB. With this, I don't have to worry about the wire reaching my pocket or getting tangled in things. Plug anything you want into it; I use Etymotic hf5. $22. A cheap Bluetooth remote was going to be my suggestion, too. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Jumbl-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Streaming-Receiver/dp/B00UUDZLB0/

u/stein63 · 0 pointsr/motorcycles

Bluetooth isn't going to give you the range you'll need. You could just use your phone (unlimited mobile to mobile) and use something like Jumbl with a wired headset inside your helmet. This is what I use but mostly for music.

u/kennyfreemoney · 0 pointsr/iphone

This is what everyone needs to buy. Now you dont have to give up your crappy $4 headphones that you "love so much"
Just glue it to the back of your phone. BOOM. Headphone jack is back. And you can change songs without turning on the phone.
