I have these headphones, for gaming and at the price they're a recommend buy from me since everything is clear and the audio positioning is great. The only negative thing that I can say is that the stock cables are terrible and mine died within a few months. I recommend these.

The AKG in my flair. I love it, and got this cable upgrade since my cat likes chewing the rubber part. Open, accurate, and I can hear all the good and faulty parts of whatever I listen to. I honestly don't have a problem with the "light" bass; it's not emphasized. It can handle DnB and dubstep if I need it to.

Nice find! I've had my gold K240's for like 15 years, and I've worn them at my desk like every day. I've only had to repair a busted wire in the left can and replace the cable. I also swapped out the ear pads with a set of these like three years ago and they're still holding up and way more comfortable than the vinyl ones, especially after they started cracking.

u/ZeosPantera · 2 pointsr/Zeos

This is the cable I use. Think they make it with a few lengths.

u/Bournestorm · 2 pointsr/headphones

Whoops, forgot to link to all of that stuff, my bad!

Here's the cable in question

Some guy in China made it and while at first I was kinda skeptical that it would be good, when it arrived I was amazed at how nice it was. He's apparently a go to guy for those sort of cables on Amazon, has a ton of glowing reviews and a wide variety

I actually have a pair of these with me, that's only referring to the end that connects to your computer or device (it's just saying it's 3.5mm as opposed to the larger 1/2 inch connector). The end that connects to the headphones is mini-XLR so unfortunately it wouldn't be compatible.

u/deface-rx · 2 pointsr/synthesizers

or they could go off the deep end and use Mini XLR like AKG..

I was planning on doing this myself after I wasted money buying a few cables. Turns out the wiring on AKG's miniXLR is different so all these sorts of short mic cables don't work even if advertised as stereo.

This is another option to use with more common short 3.5mm cables but it looks like it sticks out too much for my taste.

Ended up buying this which is short enough to be out of the way, unlike the stock ones that came with my K712.

Mint condition set of K702 with Brainwavz velour XL pads. Also comes with upgraded cable, I just forgot it at home and can get pictures of it tonight. No original pads or cable included. Amazing sounding set, and extremely comfortable.

Asking $140 shipped CONUS.

It's not as short as 30cm, but I use this 1.2m cable with my Q701s just fine.

Hey all, I recently bought this cord from amazon for my AKG M220s:

https://www.amazon.com/NewFantasia-Replacement-HDJ-2000-Headphones-1-2meters/dp/B00KAST95Y

The cord works great, but the only issue is that it is stuck. It seems that the release button is broken. I was able to get the plate off of the connector side of my AKGs and unscrew it, but I cannot find anyway to get rid of this cord. Any suggestions?

u/Yomommassis · 1 pointr/headphones

I bought a cheap soldering iron, watched some videos on how to do it, practiced on some other things for a bit, and then installed a mini XLR port into my DT990 Pro

It looks so nice and is very practical

Now I use this cable: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KAST95Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kTYXDbAXDJRAQ

I recently bought a used K240, and it came with [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-upgrade-pioneer-HDJ-2000-Headphone/dp/B00KAST95Y) cable. It's a pretty good cable.

Yea, it should work.

Usually i look at the product page on amazon, usually they recommend a replacement cable together with headphones.
https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-upgrade-pioneer-HDJ-2000-Headphone/dp/B00KAST95Y/ref=pd_bxgy_267_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00KAST95Y&pd_rd_r=6B2V0GAHZX2SQZS0CQKT&pd_rd_w=hR0dR&pd_rd_wg=W51CS&psc=1&refRID=6B2V0GAHZX2SQZS0CQKT , this was recommended on the K240 product page, maybe take alook

I've got the AKG K240 Mk II. They're the same thing, just different colors, an extra cable (coiled), and an extra set of earpads (velour). Definitely worth getting the regular version, especially given that they are right at your price point.
Just know that these are not "bassy" headphones. They are semi-open, which allows you to hear sounds around you, and people can hear what you're listening to. This makes them sound more natural. They have a decent soundstage, meaning you can hear what direction a sound is coming from. The effect depends on the source audio though.
The replaceable cable is a huge benefit. Running over the cable with your chair no longer means the end of your headphones (soldering those tiny wires is not easy for an amateur like me). The downside is that they only work with AKG's proprietary connector, and the cables aren't super cheap, but it's still cheaper than buying a new pair of headphones. And you can always pick up a better cable (longer, shorter, braided, whatever suits your needs).
Oh yeah, in case you were wondering, these headphones are extremely comfortable to wear. I use them for many hours every day and I never become fatigued. In comparison, my MDR-V6 would become uncomfortable to wear after a while, and the high treble on them would also start to give me a headache.
In summary, I think AKG K240 has amazing features, quality, and comfort at a great price.
