Food grade Propylene Glycol is a thing, yo. Also, there is 0 evidence of PG being carcinogenic. Source (PDF Warning... are PDF warnings still a thing?).

The lube from ploom is marked up like goddamn popcorn at theatres.

This is what you want.

For the VG, I picked up this one and while a shot glass would work, I have one of these measuring cups floating around that I use.

I make a bain marie - that is, I set a small pot of water over low heat with a small heat proof bowl set inside with more water in that. The water comes to the 60 ML mark on the glass. I use a baking scale (or a drug scale...ha. one that measure down to .01g) to measure my CBD into the glass and then top with just enough PG to cover. I set it in the waiting water bath.

The goal of the water bath is to keep it around 140*f. You want it just shimmering and giving off a bit of steam & that's all you need. In about 15 mins, the isolate will disolve into the PG. I like to agitate (usually swirl around a bit) to make sure it's fully combined.)

I usually add up to the 30-40 ML mark with my juice and swirl it around again to combine and let it heat for 15 mins or so, until it's no longer cloudy. It stays better blended this ways. I've had some juices completely break down without this step.

Finally, I add to the 60-65 ML line, let it soak for another 5 minutes, give it a good swirl and then transfer to a unicorn bottle. Once it cools off some, I cap it off and it's good to go.

As for the mixing equipment, see below:

u/TheChronicBubonic · 3 pointsr/ploompax

its called food grade propylene glycol, and you can buy it at your local drugstore.
also you can buy a quart of it (which will last forever) on Amazon:

u/iamwastedyouth · 3 pointsr/researchchemicals

Yes it's USP grade. you can get a quart for a few more dollars.

> My only concern was that I was reading somewhere earlier about not using food grade for making juice as it is slightly less pure than pharmaceutical grade. Something about it being okay for food but not necessarily inhalation? Is this just incorrect or what? I seem to see lots of juice sites saying they use the USP food grade stuff so idk.

I don't know, to be honest. This is the PG I've been using, for several months now, and I've had no ill effects from it. 99.9% pure is good enough for me.

Hey r/diy_ejuice I'm trying to assemble a diy kit and I need some input about what else I might need here's the base kit I'm starting with and here's the VG/PG I'm looking at and here's what I'm going to store the juice in I think all I need now is to find flavor concentrate and nicotine, and if there's anything else you think I might need please let me know.

u/Avratz · 2 pointsr/researchchemicals

You need to make sure it's food grade USP! This will suffice! :-)

u/aqble · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

My experience is limited but if you want to be supplied for 2-3 years and only have $150 to spend I'd buy a liter of 100mg/ml nicotine (the key ingredient after all, ~$90), a quart each of PG & VG (~$25 combined total), some 3ml & 10ml syringes, and a few basic flavors you like. And of course some bottles.

Having bought both amber and blue glass bottles, I'll be going with clear in the future. The colors help block light, but you're much better off just keeping your mixes in a dark area (like a cabinet or freezer), at which point the color of the glass is entirely moot. Clear glass lets you see the level and color a lot better. You can get glass bottles with droppers (~$30 for 24) really cheaply if you buy in bulk.

I heard the lube from Ploom was a scam, because you could get a quart of the same stuff for 15 bucks. Have you heard anything about this or is it not a big deal because the packets last a while?

u/PimpinNinja · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

The shipping on that will cost almost as much as the pg. You really should mix it with vg,, so I suggest these two.

For $28.92 you get half a gallon of unflavored juice. That's 1856 ml. At 5 ml/day that would last 371 days.

u/raven-ai · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

I'm glad I'm not alone at least, lol. Does yours also start after a while of vaping (30-90min) rather than immediately?

No unicorns, I am using the bottles in the link below.

Let see if we can find commonality, I am using:

u/SynesthesiaBrah · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

Did I buy the wrong VG/PG? My ejuice smells and tastes like plastic, vapes OK just tastes off. Like a plastic or chemical, kinda hard to say exactly how it tastes.

I just copied a recommended dessert flavor recipe to the t and steeped it for 5 days (no light, shook vigorously twice daily).

I bought:

  • PG
  • VG
  • Various Flavor Art flavors.

I smelled the VG and PG in the bottles they came in and didn't notice any smell at all. All the flavors smell like I'd expect them to.

I'd assume it's just the bottle I mixed it in, but I put some juice I bought in an identical bottle and it tastes/smells fine.

Order some alprazolam powder from Oxymorpheus (evo... he's my go to guy, might be out of stock for a week or 2 though) or JimmyTheGent (spelling? but heard good things about his stuff) and volumetrically dose it into a solution of PG ( in a dropper bottle ( so that one drop = 1 mg or whatever you prefer.... I believe there is a FAQ on volumetrically dosing on /r/drugs (sorry I'm lazy you can find it yourself using that search thingy haha).

u/jmcwhirter · 1 pointr/cigars

As I understand, PG is 100% PG and you mix that with distilled water. PG creates a natural film and regulates at 70% rh. If you're trying to make your own Boveda then you're on your own.

I bought this and am happy:

u/Dirtyjerzyy1992 · 1 pointr/opiates

I've shot plenty of subs myself I know how that shit goes. But there's no rush to shooting alp trust me I've shot enough to know lol. I'm just saying you can get a liter of pg for like $12 on amazon though if you wanna shoot some more alprazolam harm reduction in a way

u/Dixiecupaccount · 1 pointr/vaporents

VG is just vegetable glycerin. You can get it by the gallon at the grocery store.

PG is Propylene Glycol. Here's an Amazon link. If you use a different source, make sure it's food grade.

u/cyllaaa · 1 pointr/researchchemicals

I would not use the PG you have gotten... you can get a quart (32oz) of food grade PG here for $13:

As far as longevity goes PG is going to last a good bit longer than Everclear or alcohol solutions.

u/cjacobson22 · 1 pointr/vaporents

Don't pay that much for PG. Regular old food grade PG will work just fine, and it won't kill you. Here is a link to some. Most ejuice that can buy, especially from places like gas stations, is just food grade. You can even just buy some preflavored with low or no nic content. It wont be quite as effective at dissolving the shatter, but it'll taste better.

I haven't tried Dewberry Cream or Strawberry Milk, but there are MYRIAD versions of fruit+cream DIY recipes out there, and most don't suck! (LOL!!)

Here's my recommendations for starting-The fact that you've got Amazon Prime helps in the shipping costs! First, head over to the DIY site of your choice. There's a TON of info over in the sidebar at /r/DIY_e_Juice! Here's the beginner's guide to get you started. If you'd like the TL;DR version, here it is:

  • Go to Amazon, buy these. SCALE, VG (I prefer to buy it by the gallon, but since you're first starting it's your choice), PG

  • While you're at Amazon, you might want to pick up some bottles. I really like LDPE bottles because they are easy for me to squeeze. If those are the kind you are used to, I recommend 510 Central Their bottles are sturdy, yet squeezable, hold up to multiple washes, available in sizes ranging from 10 ml to 120 ml and are Prime eligible. I really like their 60 ml-enough juice to get you through a few days, yet pocket or bag friendly. Smaller bottles are great for trying new recipes-I like 30 ml bottles for that. It gives you enough juice to decide whether you like it or not without leaving completely jonesing for more! If glass or PET bottles are more your speed, there should be some listed under the "Frequently Bought Together" slides of any of the above linked items.

  • While not absolutely necessary, I recommend getting two condiment style bottles for dispensing the VG and PG into whatever bottle style you choose. I actually bought mine at Michael's in their cake/candy decorating isle. They were cheaper there, and they're even less expensive at WalMart.

Once you've gotten these items ordered, go have a look at some recipes either at /r/DIY_e_Juice, or Here's a Unicorn Milk clone that seems right up your alley. find two or three more recipes that sound good and don't take a whole helluva lot of flavor concentrates, then order up the concentrates for those recipes only. It's tempting to buy a slew of concentrates that sound good. Some might be winners, some less so. The thing you don't want is a bunch of concentrates that you never do anything with!(This was the mistake I made-I now have a bunch of concentrates I don't use and are going bad) When you order concentrates, stick with the small bottles to start. This will allow you to make plenty of juice while you're getting your feet wet.

  • For getting concentrates, I really like Bull City Flavors, Nicotine River, and Ecig Express. I've used Gremlin DIY as well and they've got some great prices but their bottles tend to leak after a while. Don't get concentrates from Amazon, though! Some of the ones that are listed on the site aren't meant for vaping and it can be extremely difficult to discern what's what.

Sorry it took so long to answer you-I think I've covered everything. If I haven't, shoot me a PM and I'll apologize profusely while covering whatever base I missed!
u/paschpacca · 1 pointr/oilpen

Maybe! I got a plain old bottle of straight PG on Amazon, seems to work okay. Flavor is thinner than I'd like so I probably will go with terpenes at some point. Maybe some steam is condensing in your e-juice and causing stuff to seize?

u/ScientificSalsa · 1 pointr/researchchemicals

As LSD mentioned you can get food grade PG for cheap on Amazon such as here. Typically those vape shops will rip you off price-wise but it is the same stuff.

u/scratchyNutz · 1 pointr/interestingasfuck

You do realise that 0 nic ejuice is just this stuff with food flavouring added?

u/ReverendSaintJay · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

You can take some VG or PG (or a combination of the two) and cut those 18mg juices down to whatever you like.

Just give them a day or two to distribute the flavoring around and run them at a little bit higher heat.

u/stronglikedan · 1 pointr/kratom

If you don't want to try it with nicotine, then use this, or get some zero nicotine e-juice. The straight PG is much cheaper. I actually buy high nicotine e-juice and cut it with this to save money, because I'm a low nicotine user.

Provided this would work, of course.
