removing switches from even a cheap working keyboard is a waste of time. it makes more sense to just buy a gmmk tkl that will make it so you only have to insert your desoldered switches into it. i think the effort alone of having to desolder another keyboard would make it worth it to just spend 20 dollars more in the first place.

if you are going to buy a cheap keyboard keep in mind that even cheap switches aren't bad feeling.

considering the keyboard you link will take like 2/3 of a month to arrive likely without spending money on shipping.

You are looking for a unicorn. The only choices in that category that I am aware of the Tecware Phantom 87 and the Drevo Tyrfing 87 (they are usually around $45-$55 here in the US). They can be ordered direct from China via eBay and probably AliExpress, etc. so you might be able to save a couple of dollars there.

Tecware 87

All the other 75% boards actually under $50 that I have seen use blue switches, or as you have noticed have strange layouts.

For a budget mouse, get the Nixeus Revel, Ninox Venator, G403, or Rival 110. If he's playing FPS games, light mice are probably going to be the better option than something like a G502, or any Corsair mouse.

As for a keyboard, Tecware should accommodate most switch preferences.

For cans, my recommendation is the Corsair HS50, or Cloud Stinger.

Amazon has the Tecware Phantom RGB 87 key model for $45.99. I've had mine for about six months and love it. It has non-clicky mechanical keys (Otemu Brown) and has a nice weight to it. If I had it to do over again I've probably get the model with the 10-key though.

Here's both models:

If it makes you feel any better, I've purchased 3 Deathadders for $35 each. They might MSRP for $50 but they go on sale frequently. The mouse manufacturers know this.

On the flip side, high quality mechanical keyboards just keep getting cheaper. I got this one on Amazon recently and it's awesome, I like it way more than the previous Razer and Logitech keyboards i've had. And it's like less than half the price.

Check out this keyboard. You can choose it to have linear red switches or tactile browns and they are hotswappable but only on the outemu brand.

Is this a good starter keyboard? I like the brown switches and low price-point, and good reviews on Amazon.

u/iSnipeCattle · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Personally if I was in the market for yet another keyboard I would be looking at this one. Tenkyless, RGB, and genuine outemu switches for a ridiculously good price of $40.

I am not sure if the RGB would be an issue for you or not. You can turn it off I am sure.

Just to clarify I do not own it and am not personally vouching for this one.

All the keyboards I have are either discontinued, or way more expensive now because I bought them on sale, or have a g@m3r aesthetic.

u/Dis9942 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It's not the highest of quality but its pretty damn good for $45: https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HTZQYV/

u/--jupiter-- · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I'm looking to get my first mechanical keyboard, with a budget of about $80 (possibly up to $100), and I want to get something TKL or smaller with brown switches.

I have been thinking about getting this Tecware Phantom 87 or a Gateron brown Magicforce 68, and then trying to find a new set of keycaps.

Does anyone want to sway me in either direction, or point me somewhere else entirely? Thanks for any input.

Here are a few sub-$50 boards I've tried and enjoyed:

Hope this adds progress to your search.

Cheers!

These are for sale at amazon as well.

Similar in layout to the Tecware Phantom TKL (which was just delivered and is waiting for me at home)

Also looks just like the EagleTec, except I can't find it in white/silver - but could probably search for it and find it elsewhere.

u/magicwhistle · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Tecware Phantom. Just $40 today! I believe the normal price is $45, and $50 for the full size.

It's low profile, comes with brown switches, is hotswappable if you decide you ever want to try other Outemu switches, and has per-key RGB.

u/One2Rex_ · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Now THIS might be my stop right here, it looks so nice. This or Tecware Phantom 87?

u/OhJeezer · 2 pointsr/betterbattlestations

The whole setup

g305 Mouse wireless and lagless.

Tecware Phantom Keyboard with hotswappable switches and it comes with a few spares.

That will get you a m&kb for right around 100 and I can vouch for the value of both of them.

PBT Keycaps: these make they keyboard feel a little bit better.

Acer X34 monitor that I got used

The speakers are some super old dell zylux a425 2.1 speakers that a coworker gave me. They aren't much to an audiophile but they sound great to me!

I sometimes will switch back to my TADA68 mechanical keyboard but I usually am happy enough with the Tecware. For the price it's a super nice keyboard.

u/Razmatti · 1 pointr/buildapc

I can vouch for the AUKEY KM-G9 and the Tecware Phantom. The KM-G9 is a very basic keyboard and also very loud due to the Outemu blues, but it feels great to type on. The Phantom has programmable RGB lights and a variety of switches. I have one with browns and couldn't be happier.

u/Alphaspectre451 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I'm looking at getting either the Drevo Tyrfing V2 TKL or the Tecware Phantom. Which one should I go for?

u/MyDeskIsByTheDoor · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Just picked this bad boy up for 45$, incredible has modular switches so if you find yourself wanting to try out some new switches, order them and throw them in. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079HTZQYV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It’s the Tecware Phantom Keyboard. So far, it’s great, but I’m not one to really judge considering this is my first gaming keyboard so I don’t have any real comparison.

u/clockdaddy · 1 pointr/peripherals

I found this

u/saiyate · 1 pointr/computers

Just get him a new keyboard. You can't go wrong with Brown, brown is all around. Or buy all three, and return what you don't want.

get him an MX Red (linear) keyboard for gaming, and a MX Brown(tactile) or Blue(clickly) for work/typing

Outemo makes copies of Cherry MX Keys, and they are cheap and great.

TECWARE Brown (Tactile, in between linear and clicky, has a little bump) perfect inbetween gaming and work, best all around (unfortunately they are out of the 10 Key version, still works good)

TECWARE RED (Linear, for gaming, no click)

TECWARE BLUE (Full clicky, for work, typing, not for gaming [even though they say gaming])

I’ve been using the Tecware Phantom for 4 months now . It’s ten keyless , has an option of outemu reds , blues or browns ( reds have a nice feel and are quiet so that’s what I went with ) and for it’s price it’s really good quality and sturdy with nice stock key caps . Here’s the link where I bought it . Only $46. Also has one of the best softwares I have seen for a cheap keyboard . Has many different modes and per key lighting so every key can be changed https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HTZQYV/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=tecware+phantom&qid=1573458410&sprefix=tecwa&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFYS01QSUZKTEgyQlAmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAxOTQ0MzcyMjJQNkxDRURZU1MwJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2MjY1MTNXU01NQzVHWjlaSTkmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Hello, I am trying to find a good TKL keyboard with hot-swappable switches (for Chery MX style). I've found things like the Logitech g pro x keyboard. But, I don't care for the HIGH price tag. I also have looked at some different cheap boards on amazon like E-Element Z-77( https://www.amazon.com/HUO-JI-Mechanical-Multicolor-Anti-Ghosting/dp/B01EMI35H0/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=hot%2Bswappable%2Bkeyboard%2Bcherry&qid=1574713952&sr=8-8&th=1 ) and the Tecware Phantom 87 ( https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HTZQYV/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=hot%2Bswappable%2Bkeyboard%2Bcherry&qid=1574716807&sr=8-1&th=1 ) but, the E-Element Z-77 looks ugly and the Tecware Phantom 87 does not work with Mx style switches. I have also seen other boards that look like they might work but they have none customizable RGB Barff look to them.

Does anyone know of a good TKL board that has hot-swappable switches, a good backlight, and is under $60? Or am I asking for something that does not exist?

u/miltonlegend204 · 1 pointr/battlestations

Thanks! It's the Tecware Phantom 87. I got the brown switches but it has red and blue options too. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HTZQYV

Check this out: Tecware Phantom 87 Key Mechanical Keyboard, RGB led, Outemu Brown Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HTZQYV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Ivi7BbF5C51YF. It can have the j
Keys swapped to cherry keys if you prefer. I have had mine for almost a year with zero problems.

I got this one to use at work and I love it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HTZQYV

Paired it with some o-rings to help keep my co-workers sane and it was a really great keyboard for the price, especially with full rgb. Their software works great for custom rgb patterns too.

This is a really good keyboard for under 50 dollars and there is a full size option if you want a full size keyboard. You might want to do some research about the switches. If you want clicking, then the blues are good but very loud.

u/FrozenFlame_ · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Check out Tecware Phantom 87 in browns.

Not as edgy looking, and it's pretty clean. I like the corners on this one.

Tecware Phantom 87 Key Mechanical Keyboard, RGB led, Outemu Brown Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HTZQYV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SGnoDbC0X426A it's not full layout but it's affordable and has brown switches

u/league_of_fail · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Not gonna say you won't find them, but all these cheap ET boards have blue switches from Outemu or SwitchMaster.

Most affordable board I've seen is the MagicForce/Qisan TKL with Gateron browns (looks like it's not currently on Amazon), which you want over Cherry MX browns. There's also the TecWare Phantom TKL (RGB) which comes with Outemu browns.

u/ShihVans · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

If your looking for a budget friendly keyboard that has keyboard switches with a tactile bump and little sound I’d go with the phantom keyboard in the Outemu brown switches option. My friend has this keyboard and he says it has a solid feel and customizable rgb lighting that can be changed with key commands. Not only that but it is TKL so you save desk space when compared to a full sized keyboard.

Does anyone know if the HyperX Double Shot PBT keycaps would work on my keyboard if I use a Tecware Phantom TKL keyboard with Outemu Browns?

u/flingflipply · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Keycaps: Tai Hao Miami - https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1168

Board: Tecware Phantom 87 - https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HTZQYV

Switches: Outemu Dark Purple Ice v2 - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32836096897.html

Personally prefer the Dark Purples to the Skies, in case anyone is wondering what the hell I am smoking (I'm in Washington so quite a lot of things)
