They're actually on Amazon already, they dropped the 5ks on there last week or so

Another headset to consider at this price (if you already have the lighthouses) is the Pimax 5k+ for $640 ($800 - 20% off) on Amazon.

You can also order it from Pimax's website, however I'd recommend against that.

Vs the Vive Pro you gain:

  • Higher resolution (2560x1440 per panel)
  • RGB pixel layout (Each pixel has 3 subpixels vs 2 in the Pro's Oled screen)
  • Better FOV: 150 degrees (horiz) on normal, 170 degrees on wide
  • 120Hz mode when set to 120-130 degree fov
  • Support for fixed foveated rendering on RTX GPUs

    Lose:

  • Current wireless adapter (pimax is getting one soon^(TM)
  • Build quality, it feels both solid, yet the plastic is a bit thin on parts.
  • OLED screens (Uses LCD, but this gains you a tighter pixel layout = sharper image & less screen door)
  • Requires additional software to be running in addition to either SteamVR or Oculus's SW: PiTool
  • Software is not compatible with AMD 5700 XTs (supposedly in work)
  • DAS: There's one available but it costs extra ($120/$220 depending on headphones). Can use the Vive DAS with 3d printed adapters.

I have the Index, Vive, and 5k+. The Index is better for fast movement standing type experiences due to the incredible build quality and comfort. The Pimax is better for sims and anything where FoV is king.
