these Eileen Fisher booties, which seem like pretty inconspicuous black ankle boots I never thought anyone would notice but for whatever reason people zero in on them and I get complimented whenever I wear them.

u/kittycity_ · 7 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I️ just bought these boots and while they aren’t real leather they’re comfortable and right at the two inch heel mark. 10/10 I️ would buy in other colors.

I'm gonna spam my own fashion sense, I hope you like some of what I like ;p

If you want dresses, I would recommend one size fits all dresses off Amazon. Then you don't have to worry about cups that are not filled by breasts. I really love Sakkas brand, which you can find on Amazon. I have this, for example, and the top part is stretchy so it's basically one size fits all: https://www.amazon.com/Sakkas-103141-Adara-Batik-Dress/dp/B00K1ML5JW/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827864&sr=8-33&keywords=sakkas+dress

Or any cheap $10-$15 dress from a place like Forever 21 is so poorly designed that it is effectively one size fits all.

Here are some cute colorful socks:

https://www.amazon.com/HSELL-Colorful-Rainbow-Argyle-Multicolors/dp/B01DSKGV92/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827534&sr=8-33&keywords=one+size+fits+all+dress

I know a lot of people here also love those cat thigh high socks, like these:

https://www.amazon.com/Kawaii-Cartoon-Animal-Tattoo-Stockings/dp/B0163422D4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827633&sr=8-1&keywords=cat+thigh+high

I bought this in the past and I think it's kinda androgynous

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JKF0BNC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cape coats are technically women's fashion but they're so obscure that I think a lot of people don't know how to gender them

https://www.amazon.com/Artka-Womens-Embroidery-Turn-down-Collar/dp/B00F8A0C5U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827761&sr=8-1&keywords=cape+coats

I also really love Mordenmiss jackets (also off Amazon). They're really loose and kinda art smock-y.

I bought this pair of boots a while back and they're really, really nice!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KAI4GL6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've also bought these and I get tons of compliments on them

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OMUIWD6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also have this Forever 21 dino sweatshirt and I can't walk 5 minutes without getting a compliment on it. Unfortunately it isn't sold in stores anymore, but this might help give more ideas of femme clothing.

https://cdnd.lystit.com/photos/2013/10/28/forever-21-blackgold-quirky-dinosaur-sweatshirt-product-1-14521999-527549268.jpeg

I think anything that is a "Women's [traditionally male clothing]" is bound to look fairly androgynous. Like women's button downs, women's sweatshirts and sweatpants, women's leather jackets, etc.

Hush Puppies

Dr. Martens - these don't specifically come in a wide-width, but they're sized VERY generously and I highly recommend them as a fellow orthotics-wearer.

Rockport - available in wide-width except for 11

Sam Edelman

Hope you find something you like! I know how tough it is to find nice looking orthotic-friendly footwear.

u/Smokeahontas · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I'm in love with these Sam Edelman boots, but they are sold out in a 7.5 everywhere I can find. Does anyone know of any similar boots at or under $100 USD?

u/intifada87 · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I just bought these Clarks ankle boots and I love them. I also dislike a pointy toe and I really like the look of these. Super comfy, too!

u/lightningnonevent · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

They're not quite the same, but these petty boots are close.

Let's see..

  • Sam Edelman Petty ankle boots, grey suede
  • Sam Edelman Petty ankle boots, black leather
  • Ralph Lauren brown riding boots similar - they're so old that I can't find a picture of them, but got them from Marshall's for $99
  • Cheapo slouch boots for a costume brown suede
  • Ariat cowboy boots with heel because I live in Texas

    Only five! I'm surprised.
u/Still_Teleporting · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

What about these Cougar booties? It has a traction outer sole and the leather/suede is waterproof as shown in the QVC demo at 3:55. Most of the reviews I came across said something about its odd sizing though so watch out for that. I've been thinking of getting them myself as winter shoes.

u/Bloopity_bloop_bloop · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Sure thing, here you go!:)

u/purebeingballthing · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I just bought these short Lucky Brand boots on sale at a department store and they go with both jeans and skirts/dresses. They are pretty comfortable for walking and being on my feet most of the day.

Otherwise, I really like Born shoes and they last forever. A little pair of flats or these oxfords. I love their oxfords--mine are in grey. DSW tends to carry Borns at a discount.

But yeah, I think 5 months is a pretty short lifespan.

u/prettypinkdeer · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

PURCHASES! Woohooo. I never shop for myself, like ever. So this past week I treated myself.

u/TheBluePenguin9 · 2 pointsr/femboy

they were my 2nd pair of heels. They look great, and I found them really comfortable. To confirm they are the same heels I put a link to them on amazon here

[Sam Edelman Petty ] (http://www.amazon.com/Sam-Edelman-Womens-Petty-Ankle/dp/B004I5D2PI) boots in putty suede? I want a sleek, light weight, really comfortable pair of ankle boots. I walk a lot and always fall back on my New Balances but they just aren't sleek. I'm not too worried about the suede because I already have really solid waterproof boots and I'm generally a fan of taupeish color because (I think) it pairs nicely with brown or black.

My main concern is, are the Petty boots just too trendy? I feel like I'm seeing them everywhere right now and the price tag is high enough that I'd like to get at least a year or two of wear out of them. I guess black leather would be a safer choice in terms of being able to blend in but I just don't like them as much.

u/kia_the_dead · 2 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

Here are the shoes. TBH they'd look pretty great if they had some LEDs in them around the top.

u/ruthannr94 · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I pretty much always buy clothes non-stop but I've actually been keeping a list of how much I'm spending this fall and I need to go on a no-buy really soon. But first I must decide if I want black leather Dr. Martens or Patent pewter spectra Dr. Martens. Part of my brain is telling me that obviously I need both.

u/panaceic · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

you might like the sam edelman joey boot? reviews seem to be fairly good, although i don't own a pair myself.

u/HOT_LOBSTER · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I got the Petty 2, which unfortunately doesn't come in black and is cheaper for some reason, but it looks like the Petty (which I'm assuming is the one you were looking at) is only 130 on Amazon (some savings, at least?).

comment content: Madden Girls Rancee boot is a little expensive but very worth it in my opinion. (Raleigh, NC winters are milder than most so if protection from snow or cold is a HUGE issue, you might want to find something more lined.) This is an Amazon link but I'm sure you can find it cheaper with some extra digging. To answer your questions:

  • Not a big fan of shorter hair on me for a few reasons. I don't think it is a great look on me and I am an opera singer so long hair is kind of part of the gig. However, I am going to get a proper hair cut from DevaCurl and am starting to use their products so that might help modern me up.

  • As far as shoes go I don't have much. Am super open to suggestions though, an excuse to shop is great. I got these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PRU8D7U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) a whole ago, which I like.

  • Still don't have a makeup routine down because I am super lazy but when I do it is normally cover up/foundation, a spot of blush, mascara, maybe something from a naked pallet, lipstick, and possibly dipbrow.

  • Have pierced ears, will get earnings.

Here's some, they're not SEVERELY pointed but it's the closest that I've found.

u/suhmanthuhox · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Is anyone familiar with the shoe store Traffic? About a year and a half ago, I bought shoes that look almost exactly like these in black. I call them my elf shoes. I wore the shit out of them, and since they were such crappy quality, they fell apart quickly, yet I've continued to wear them.

I want to get a new pair of similar shoes, but I'm so shoe-stupid that I don't know what brands suck and what don't. I would not like to spend over $80, although I'm not totally opposed to going over if I think it will be worth it. I also am looking for brown booties too in a similar "elf shoe" fashion. Not good at wearing heels at all, so if you think the wedges I'm showing would be too much of a heel, please let me know! Here are a couple I'm looking at:

one - I don't like the black, just the taupe, but I'm skeptical of Tom's wedges.

two - in black

three - black, maybe brown?

I could technically get the Amazon ones too, but I'm trying to not get crappy shoes anymore, and the reviews seem awful. If you have other suggestions please let me know!

Also, I have looked into the the Sperry Chelsea Boot (no heel) or this Lucky Basel Boot (slight heel) and would like opinions on small heel/ vs no heel!

Amazon.com for cheap docs! I don't know if they are good for winter, since there is no winter in southern California, but they are comfy.

I've never owned either, but am also looking for a pair of booties. The Lucky Basel bootie is also sold on Amazon for a potentially lower price point!

If you care more about style, as a 101 hipster I can state that I see these everywhere (I can admit to owning about 5 pairs). People either get a waterproof option or spray them with some sealant. They have worked fine for me on light hikes, but it's more about your personal expectations.

u/unbiasly · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

To me, I love my chelsea boots. I have a heeled pair from H&M I bought on a whim one day; it turned out to be actually comfortable. I wear them with everything, and don't plan on quitting anytime soon. To me, I see them as any other pair of ankle boots, which I consider a wardrobe necessity. The flat one and low heeled ones aren't as "classic" to me. But this is because they're too casual-looking for my taste.

But some more options for you: Sam Edelman Chelsea boot; Jeffrey Campbell boots; Topshop

u/pallo1234 · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Well, it's a relief to know that nothing huge is changing, and I can just shop normally, thank you!

These are for everything, haha! I.e. most things, most days. If it's all the same as last year in terms of fashion, some kind of bootie or combat would work. The shoes have to be fairly comfortable and supportive, and have a removable sole so I can use my orthotics, is all.

For reference, I've worn combats for years... (these, in black). The insides of my last pair fell apart on my feet. To be fair, I wore them every day, in snow, etc. I had the inner sole reglued; the heel cup subsequently came out :/ (The shoe repair person also tried to fix the wear on the outer sides of the heels, which is fine, except ever since, my back's hurt every time I've worn them :/ I think whatever material he used is dense and hard compared to the existing sole.)

I also can't find a replacement that fits well. I got a pair of ankle booties, with a bit less of a heel even Not really relevant to the question of style, but those are also contributing to back pain. No pain whatsoever in running shoes, sandals, or bare feet.

(Back pain wasn't the reason for the orthotics, I don't usually have that at all, so it's very weird. Almost scared to get something else, now :/ and wish return policies accommodated people with foot problems :/)

I think I need a flatter style, probably. But I like having about an inch of extra height :/ My podiatrist liked the combats for me - they had about a .5" differential between heel and toe. May need another visit, to be sure. Or I should get something like a running shoe, except my style isn't that sporty, really :/

Any thoughts on this? Or recs for a booty or combat in a flat style that gives a bit of height?

edit: BUT I'm seeing that the toe-heel differential with the booties is greater than it was with the combats, that's probably it... . Edit 2: I guess they're "granny boots", not combats, technically.

edit: actually downvoted? why, for having orthopedic problems? or for mistaking granny boots for combats? lol

sorry for the distraction, and don't worry: THE STYLES ARE THE SAME, EVERYTHING'S FINE
