For those curious, here are the shorts. I don't love that they're cargo shorts but they do have a long 15" inseam.
I need to have water with me in line, so I purchased a collapsible water bottle from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K17T5RW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Fits in my zippered cargo shorts pocket, which I also bought from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B6EBMYC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought two pairs on Amazon last week, and they're actually pretty high quality. This is it. Amazon is both a blessing and a curse.
Levi's cheetah print cargo shorts
Edit: Can also be found here, here, here and here in various sizes (and prices)
Mine will be in shorts and flip flops. We are compromising on shirt - he wants t-shirt but so long as short sleeve he is ok.
Mind you August and Vegas. I am in a tea length gown. Not overly formal at all. (pic is on my history somewhere recently).
Here is the shirt I found for him. Will be with shorts similar to these.
I feel it is his wedding too and he should be comfortable and happy and luckily he feels the same for me so this works for us.
BEYOND THE LIMIT Heavy Cargo... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MRBJ247?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Didnt have any luck in physical stores, but bought these about 2 years ago and i really like them. The front pockets are kinda shallow but it has zipper pockets on both sides that are big. I removed the belt it comes with and use a regular belt.
I absolutely love these shorts for that reason. They have a dedicated hidden phone pocket on the right leg that perfectly holds a Note 9. The phone slides right in and is secure. I have a Speck grip case and it still fits fine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IT4V0M0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i0CKBbEVJ8VTH

I had noticed companies that make scrubs also do shorts, but didn't realise they were also non-work ones. Is it these ones you are referring to (for example)?
I'm looking for a navy blue belt. The kind that usually comes with mens cargo shorts. It's fabric and has two metal rings to fasten the belt in place.
Am I better off just buying some shorts from Amazon that have the belt $22 or is there a place to get them cheap? Also, is there a name that describes this kind of fabric belt?

I wear compression sport shorts beneath Gerry Stretch shorts.

So I’m looking for a great summer fit! I had these (https://www.amazon.com/Tonwhar-Fashion-Capris-Elastic-Drawstring/dp/B00KJJD8JM?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 ) pants that cuffed around the calf’s and knees the materials sucked and ripped in less then a month. I want to see if there is something similar out there, nice material and good for causal work environment, dates, etc. for those warm summer/fall days that’s just right not too hot for shorts not too cold for jeans/chino khakis.
Bought these Scotch & Soda shorts yesterday :)

Love at first sight. Slim fit, stretchy cotton, super comfy!! I was happy :)
Well, this is technically a cargo short, but I think it looks preppy as fuck. Possibly it's the slim cut, maybe it's the fact that you can see his knees. But basically, I would think, "What, are you headed to the country club for golf?" They don't even look comfortable. I can't imagine actually playing in them.
This is more what I think of as normal. Roomy pockets for wallet and keys and bug spray, plus you can wear your shirt untucked.
And these shorts say "My mom dresses me."
I have a slightly less extreme version of your situation. Six feet tall, 202 lbs, 36-inch waist.
I've been cycling for thirty years, so I have big thighs.
I recently got some of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FB6JGBW/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apap_Y1NMUIndr9UlX
My wife at least complimented me on the way they look. I try to wear a nice shirt with them and a necklace to distract from the fact that, yeah, I'm wearing cargo shorts.
If anyone here has a more-fashionable suggestion, I'd love to hear.
this is the best i've got for something formal without giving off an impression of trying too hard
