Have you got a Gameboy (or DS!)? Any Gameboy will do! You got it?? Good!! Now, depending on the generation of Gameboy in your hand, follow one of these links:
Original -> Pokemon Red / Pokemon Blue / Pokemon Yellow - Pikachu Edition
Gameboy Color -> Pokemon Silver / Pokemon Gold / Pokemon Crystal
Gameboy Advance -> Pokemon Ruby / Pokemon Sapphire / Pokemon Emerald
Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Diamond / Pokemon Pearl / Pokemon Platinum
Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Black / Pokemon White
... and sort your life out!
EDIT: As people rightly pointed out, no 3DS Pokemon yet, fixed it!
Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age for Gameboy Advance.
They're so good. Here's Golden Sun for $12 used on Amazon.
They're fantastic turn-based RPGs - the mechanics are a little different from Final Fantasy, but it's quick to pick up. Also it has a good amount of fun puzzles and a fantastic story.
There were some with 2, 3, or 4 cartoon episodes, 3 full-length movies (Shrek, Shrek 2, and Shark Tale), and a couple that actually included 2 movies on one cart (Shrek/Shrek2 and Shrek/Shark Tale, I think?
Hell, I had this episode on one of those Game Boy Advanced Video cartridges. I didn't think anything of it for a long time. It was my favorite episode on that cartridge.
If Amazon listings are to be believed, new in box is listed at $164.
http://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Sapphire-Game-Boy-Advance/dp/B000084314
It's available from amazon for $210, and this auction is currently at $150. Quite nice, but I was kind of expecting it to be more from all the enthusiastic comments.
Amazon says $150
Ahh. I was thinking of this remake.
Or this? http://www.amazon.com/Dogz-2-Game-Boy-Advance/dp/B000K7UE7W/ref=pd_sim_vg_1/177-0864070-5542014?ie=UTF8&refRID=0E516W0VGRFBCA7TR18Q
With shipping Emerald is about $30. Fire red is about the same at $28
Inconvenient critical hits seem to be twice as frequent during nuzlocke runs.
Where are you located? Have you tried looking for independent game stores in your area? Sometimes they have some good deals, and even if they cost a little more, it might be worth it just to be able to check out the condition of the used merchandise before you buy it.
Are there any specific games you are looking for? $15+ is a pretty typical price tag for the more uncommon or high-demand titles, but there's still a lot of great stuff out there that can be picked up on the cheap. Amazon Marketplace is a great place to go for deals, and often times you can find new copies of games for around $10 or less. Right now you can get a new copy of Chu Chu Rocket for $3.94, a new copy of of Jet Grind Radio for $10.99, a new copy of Phantasy Star Online (it has an off-line game too) for $3.20, a new copy of Space Channel 5 for $4.49, a new copy of Tennis 2K2 for $3.34, a new copy of Test Drive Le Mans for $0.01, and a new copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for $9.99.
Nice, thanks! Kind of funny that they used that for that Amazon page, and a shame that it is just a concept.
> ing AS/OR
AS/OR are still in production, so yeah, easy.
I recently did a calculation of all of the main series pokemon games if I bought them used on Amazon, the total was nearly 1000 dollars.
Even look at Pokemon Plat

70 dollars for a used crappy copy.

Pokemon is not cheap.

It seems pretty low, so I'll pass. But here are some pages on Amazon you can trust, just check their seller rating.
Hope I helped. Sorry we couldn't make a deal.
I would just like to point out that a brand new plastic sealed Pokemon Yellow is worth $400. Ebay that, buy a used one, replace battery, and good to go.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000047GEI/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new
$300 vs $22 Just on the Pokemon yellow alone. He could get his dad a nice gift for example with the extra money.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000047GEI/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
Yep. Gamestop has a lot of sucky business practices, but I don't think this is one of them. They're selling the games for the price people will pay. You can get it cheaper on Amazon, but that would require buying it from random sellers you've probably never heard of.
Some games become dirt cheap when they get old, others become collector's items and don't. Not really surprising that an old Pokemon game is in the latter category, given both the popularity of the game and that there's still motivation to buy it (I don't think you're the only one trying to pick it up to help complete the Pokedex).
Leaf Green retains value but Treasure Planet is certainly no Castlevania Double Pack. There are GBA and DS games that are worth $$$$ and going up but these are not them.
Kingdom Hearts and Phantom Hourglass might be worth something, I could see GameStop selling them for maybe $15 or $20 so they'd buy it for half-ish. Maybe he has a copy of The World Ends With You in the case?
But in any event a used, 'okay' condition Black DS Lite isn't worth more than ~$40 which is less than a good copy of Leaf Green. I call absolute BS on this, I wouldn't pay more than $75 for that pile of Lego games even with a DS thrown in.
Me too!
ahem
If you have a PSP you can get it off the EU store and play it that way.
If you have a DS or DS lite there was a GBA version of FF6 with extra dungeons and such.
http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-VI-game-boy-advance/dp/B000LY4IDK/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1309485190&sr=1-1
Several hundred was exaggerating a bit, but they're definitely not cheap .
Gen I though...
Amazon is tough because you need to see a photo and most sellers won't post one. For fire red there's one for $46 that shows pics of the board and emerald has one for $58
https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0006GBCZU/ref=sr_1_1_twi_gam_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1467568292&sr=8-1&keywords=Fire+red

eBay is way cheaper, here's some legit looking ones. Label should be holo for fire red, the correct color shade for emerald, E symbol the correct size, and the cart for both should be a solid color.

Used Amazon Listing
I have bought a lot of used stuff on a Amazon and no fake carts have even been shipped
a quick google: https://www.amazon.com/Mother-3-Game-Boy-Advance/dp/B00K96ENRQ
If you think that's stupid, look at the price of pokemon games, There's 10+ year old GBA games that go for £30 and higher. Nintendo just simply doesn't have price decay on their core games.
Seriously. At the end of the day, Nintendo is going to try to profit as much as possible, and when you realize that games like Pokémon Yellow are still selling for $23 used, without a working save function, the price suddenly doesn't seem so bad. Hell, even the Pokémon TCG video game is selling for $9 used at minimum, and that's if you ignore the cost of shipping and handling. You want that sucker new? I hope you've got nearly $300 to throw around.
The game may be old, but that doesn't mean it's suddenly in the public domain. If people want to pirate, let 'em, but they really shouldn't be bitching about Nintendo making it worth their time to port it, even without the fact that they're charging a lot less than they could be.
I have been playing Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-World-Advance/dp/B00005UK88/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498516916&sr=8-1&keywords=super+mario+gba
And Mario vs. Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem! https://www.amazon.com/Mario-vs-Donkey-Kong-Mini-Land-Mayhem/dp/B003ZHQH02/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498516993&sr=8-1&keywords=mario+mini+mayhem
Other games are Trama Center and Metroid Prime Hunters. The games are easier to play on my DS as they are stylus heavy and its way easier to hold the DS for longer periods of time. Also IMO best GBA player is the DS Lite.
With all those RPG's and Mario games I'm amazed I don't see this game somewhere in there
It's amazing and I highly recommend it!
I was going to say to try your luck at your local GameStop, but those are probably the first to go in the used section. If you wanna try online, Amazon should work. I'd suggest looking for sellers with a high reputation. Besides that, if it happens to be bootleg by chance, Amazon should have you covered so your money shouldn't go to waste. You'll just want to make sure you buy and check the game in advance (no pun intended).
Meanwhile on amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000084313/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1484408269&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=pokemon+sapphire&dpPl=1&dpID=618K8K3FZGL&ref=plSrch
I will say 238 because I have no idea what else to say!
It looks like it's going for $25 on Amazon. So, 2000?
Since people are selling them on Amazon for $40 shipped: Link
How does $30 shipped sound?
Sorry, I'm not looking for bootlegged games. My friend lost all of his rare pokemon on a cart he thought was legit.

Ta-ta!
> That's impressive if you can read all that Japanese. Did you study it or did you just translate the page?
I studied it and used to be pretty good at it, but after not speaking/reading Japanese for over 2 years, I'm really bad at it now, unfortunately. I still can read lots of Kanji, though.
Thank you so much for the recipe! It appears as if this one was made by the same person who made the Pokéblocks guide (kakeru). :D This will be very helpful in the future!
> I'll check out my local gameshops and see if they have any copies I can pick up cheap. I do have a few extra memory cards and they shouldn't be that expensive to mail.
Oh my, that would be indescribably awesome! o_O I realised I need to buy an English game anyways. I have a German Ruby and a German Emerald only so far, so I'll probably should go for Sapphire. Or any other game, as long as the battery is still working.
I have also looked for the e-Reader and the cards on the internet and I actually found a cheap e-Reader and the one pack of cards I would need to get the crucial Nutpea berry (ラッカ) on amazon.com, but unfortunately shipping would cost me over £60 … :/ You wouldn't happen to be willing to have these two items shipped to you and then forward them to me, would you? (#__#)' I feel a bit stupid for asking but I can't bring myself not to mention it, I'm desperate …
> is there a list somewhere of the Pokemon you can get the purification ribbon for?
You can get the purification ribbon for every Pokémon that can be purified after you have snagged them in either Colosseum or XD. Here’s a list of snaggable Pokémon in Colosseum, and here’s a list of snaggable Pokémon in XD. If you want a special Pokémon, the capture guide for XD by Smogon could be useful.
> If you need help with any berries on 4th Gen just let me know. I just recently got them all and have been planting and growing them like crazy.
I'm missing #57, #58, #62, #63 and #64. Do you actually have all of them, I mean, all 64 of them? ô_ô Would be so happy if I could get all of them! Is there anything I could help you with? I'm more than willing to give back!
PS: I've read some of your other posts so far. You seem to really know what you're doing and to enjoy the games a lot. I like that, as I see myself as someone playing like this too. Very soothing to know there are others out there; I sometimes get the feeling everyone's just liking the 'story' so much, having huge problems with Gym leaders and the Elite 4, never really looking into the games deeper, and then starting all over again after 40 hours or so (which is perfectly fine, of course, just very different from how and why I play) … :S
Edit: grammar, berries in Gen IV

Here's a list of used copies, the lowest at around $13 plus shipping.
I've got you covered. Unfortunately the games I assume you're talking about go for quite a pretty penny. Better hold out for a good flea market.
I live in the US and used to buy/sell games.
If you were to list this under the lowest price, it would sell in under an hour. I promise. It's not just australia.

Don't buy this game new. It's $400. Buy it used. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00005MDZZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487905262&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=advance+wars
Are these acceptable Amazon listings? Seems really sketchy to list on the same product page as the game and compete with those prices but sell booklet only.

I want to collect the old Pokemon games and, especially Pokemon Yellow since it was my first Pokemon game here
This is an awesome contest! and Get a real life, NERD!!!
Whiplash! is one of my favorite games, I played the demo back in 2004 and I never stopped thinking about it! it's a great game on the ps2!
Also, back in 2004 I played a lot of my friends Game Boy Advance and he had Mario and Luigi Superstar Sega! That game was so great! It brought back a lot of memories when I recently played it!
Eggplant Wizard!
I'm not much of a gamer so I don't know if there is anything else you'd trade for or just buy. I also have Super Mario World 2 and Wario Land 4 for GBA, cartridges only.

They ain't gonna work properly on modern PC.
May as well get a Dreamcast emulator and get yourself the copies you want.
The price is actually quite reasonable for such an older game: https://www.amazon.com/Tony-Hawks-Pro-Skater-Sega-Dreamcast/dp/B00004SR5H?th=1
By your logic,The Fairly Oddparents Vol. 1 for the GBA is a game. You can buy it under the Video Game section of Amazon, and when you get it in the mail, you put it in your GBA. Is it a game though?
Also, this
This one is better, you get 2 movies on a single cartridge (Shrek/Shark Tale), Of course the video quality is compromised. https://www.amazon.com/Shrek-Shark-Tale-Game-Boy-Advance/dp/B000AOEVJM

hahaha I agree actually. Its such a difference playing on my handheld over a tablet emulator or something like that. Doesn't capture the feel. I'm sure you could find it on amazon or ebay for cheap...
It's about $15 used.

Look carefully at the listing, it's being sold by a third-party, not Nintendo, nor Amazon. The description for Pokemon Sapphire (Renewed) mentions that the battery was replaced.
I would only purchase a Prime/Fulfilled by Amazon listing to make returns easy if it's not legit. Otherwise, Lukie Games seems to have a good reputation, YMMV.

B2/W2 hits October 7th in the US, Oct 12th in EU, "Late spring" in Australia, in other words, around October 20th.
Really hard? There's plenty of places to buy the actual official game cart of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Amazon's second and third party sellers are selling them for extremely affordable prices. Give them a look and stay as FAR AWAY from eBay as possible. There's a lot of sellers on eBay selling fakes like the one you have.

That's why eBay is a better place to figure out how much something is worth, because you can tell if people are actively trying to pay that much money for it or not. I mean I've seen listings on eBay where people are offering mint holo 1st edition Charizards for like $1000000, so you might think the card is worth that much because someone's selling it for that much, but if nobody's actually buying it...
On a related note, someone on Amazon is selling Ruby for $300. The description on that listing is so wrong, though.
> Start out with just 3 Pokemon
-?
> Over 350 new Pokemon are here to battle with, collect and trade
?? Hoehn only added a little over 130 new pokemon, and you can't even obtain all 386 Pokemon with just Ruby (and Sapphire) alone!
> New battle system allows trainers to take two Pok mon into battle instead of just one at a time
Well, yeah, but this description makes it sound like you can do that all the time, rather than in just a few battles.
> As you play you'll open up fun and exciting mini-games that advance the storyline
I have no idea what this is referring to. The only "mini-games" are the Contests and the slot machines, and neither of those advance the story at all.
> You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show,"
??? It's like somebody's mom wrote this based on really early release notes that were translated by fans.
Ok I think I found you 2 legit cartridges judging by the comments on Amazon. They are both under $/£35 B-) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00028S9P8 - Leaf Green with free GBA adapter. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0006GBD04 - Leaf Green by itself. Hoped this helped :-D
