I have these thicker thigh highs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012XYIM0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and these thinner ones:

I have pretty big calves (most calf-length boots don't fit) but i'm good with a medium. Just make sure they also compress your feet, so the blood doesn't pool there :/

You can probably just do knee length compression socks (my knees are the vein problem area, which is why i have to do the thigh highs) to help a bit. Amazon has a decent selection, and same prices as the more specialty stores.

It is common at this point, unfortunately, and they don't really worry about it unless your face starts swelling to my knowledge. My OB recommend these sexy thigh-high compression stockings. It takes a lot of effort to get them on and off but they do help with keeping the edema in check. She said to also watch salt intake and wear supportive shoes.

I suffer from heat intolerance but not as badly as before. If youre comfortable with it I tend to wear them with shorts. I buy them in a color that closest fits my skin tone and usually wear the thigh high ones. Knee highs also work but not as well. I also use 20-30 compression and bought mine on amazon for around $30 and they get the job done

These are my "starter" socks the first ones I used and enjoyed

Prescription ones are best but can be very expensive. I've been using these more affordable ones with success--they are slightly scratchier than the expensive ones but don't tear as easily, and they help my symptoms. Be sure to follow the size chart, they are Asian sizes so run much smaller than US size.

ETA: I like the open toe because closed toe gives me athletes foot, but if you prefer closed toe this brand sells that style also.

You can pick them up off amazon. Compression stockings are guaged by mmHG and 15-20 is very low compression, 20-30 is moderate (it's what feels best to me) and then 30+ is usually what is prescribed for serious lymphedema patients or post op and you need a special tool to get those SOBs on.

Personally, I like mine with an open toe to let the heat out and then I just wear socks over them.

I've gotten a few pairs from Truform (open toe, which that link isn't) and with care they can go pretty long before needing replacing.

I took my measurements and took to Amazon! A lot of them are nude or black with lace at the top.

How about these?
compression socks

If you are concerned about accidentally cutting off circulation, make sure you get genuine GRADUATED compression stockings. The graduated part is what helps avoid cutting off circulation by applying less and less pressure as the stockings go up the body.

PROS:

  1. Successfully keeps my feet the healthy skin tone it’s supposed to be instead of stone cold corpse feet.
  2. The graduated compression stockings I got are comfortable. I was concerned they’d just feel like tight skinny jeans, but once they are on, i can easily forget I’m wearing them.
  3. I feel I have more steady energy on the days I wear them rather than my usual sluggish, quick to burn out energy. When I wear the compression stockings, I can actually run around and get my errands done.
  4. Affordable. The ones my doctor recommended (linked above) are pretty affordable. Mine were only $17.99.

    CONS:
  5. Hot. Not comfortable during warm weather, which kinda sucks because dysautonomia causes heat intolerance (for me at least).
  6. Not a sufficient solution for leg swelling. Maybe the pressure on mine are too low, but my legs still swell even when I wear the compression stockings. Maybe they swell less than they would’ve if I hadn’t had them on, but it’s still insufficient.
  7. My doctor said that for my particular case, only the waist high stockings would be effective. The ones I’m currently using have an open toe, but cover the foot and go up over my belly button. I tried the graduated compression stockings for just my calves and found it to be very uncomfortable and pinch my skin under my knee.
  8. A bit of a hassle to go to the bathroom. Putting these stockings on is a bit of an ordeal. Not bad enough that I wouldn’t be ok doing it once a day, but it does require some extra time after using the bathroom.
  9. Unforgiving for lazy application. If I try to just yank them up without properly adjusting it to fit my body in the right places, it feels very, very uncomfortable. However, once I get it in the right place, it feels good.
