I use this rake thing and just put them into a garbage bin I keep outside behind my garage. I empty it out after filling it with yard leavings and poo.

On walks, I use biodegradable poop bags.

For the yard, I use a Wire Rake (http://www.amazon.com/Four-Paws-Grass-Wire-Scooper/dp/B0002AT464/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1452102999&sr=8-4&keywords=pet+rake+poop) to pick up the poop and I drop it in a grocery bag.

First off, I use either a shovel or something like this to keep the poop at a distance. Bagging warm turds in my hand is a pleasure I reserve for walks away from home. Then I deposit in a 5 gallon bucket lined with a kitchen trash bag, which is tossed in the trash on garbage day. I used to cover the bucket but found that the lid did seem to really concentrate the stink and every time I removed the cover it unleashed the full force... so as long as it's not raining much, I keep the bucket uncovered in a low-traffic corner of my yard, which seems to let it dry out and break down without getting terribly stinky. If it's wet where you live, you're gonna want to cover the bucket at least loosely or you'll have a big bucket full of fermenting dog poop stew.

If you're a gardener, you could also start composting your dog waste along with other organic matter from your yard and home.

I ended up buying a system like this. Then I'll dump it into a bucket w/ a trash bag.

Q1) You see, the cows are either strays or left by small dairy farmers to graze openly during the day and they return at whatever time to ferry the cows back. You can't catch/blame them because it's never the same cow twice. Your dog on the other hand is under constant supervision of you/your family and you are always with him when he poops outside. There are special poop pickers for this very purpose, so you can scoop the shit and bag it without having to ever touch it.

2) DO NOT buy bags just for this purpose. Always try to bury the shit(by bury I mean that it should be deep enough that nobody can step in it, always cover it up after you bury it) in kacha land(soil) or if you've got a garden, bury it there. Win win. Or just flush it when you get back home if there isn't any tree/patch of soil/patch of unpaved land nearby. NEVER BUY BAGS FOR THE SHIT. Cancel the amazon order right now. Bio degradable or not bags should not be bought for a problem that can be solved otherwise.

Also, the kitchen waste thrown out is usually eaten by either the cows left by the farmers as previously stated or stray dogs. Atleast that's why my household throws it out and it's usually gone in less than an hour. This is infact a problem that I faced in Chandigarh, there are no stray cows there and hence you cannot throw organic waste outside and the smell it makes in the dustbin stinks the whole house up.

Garbage burnt outside is usually done by the safai karamcharis(atleast where I live) and since the past couple of years, situation in this regard has been improved (again, your city's situation may vary) as they now carry a cart with them and they scoop the garbage and take it with them.

If there is someone from your neighborhood burning his/her own garbage, please report them. Or atleast try to talk to them, if it's a communal problem(like the garbage collection is not being done) then work it as a community and if it's a private problem then tell them it's very irresponsible and why cant they just give their garbage to garbage collectors?

3) Almost all poop is biodegradable but at the same time they can result in more mosquitos and flies in the vicinity which can carry deadly diseases and you might not know this but mosquitoes have killed more people than one can imagine. We aren't discrimating against the doggo but we just want you to be more responsible and set an example in your area.

If you have a house and have access to the side sewer (I had to ask the city for where it was and then dig down to it), you can use this to directly dump it into the sewer. Installation is easy if you have access to the side sewer and impossible if not.

It is worth getting a patch of astroturf of one of those relief boxes (you can get them at some pet stores) if you have the yard space. The astroturf/relief box just needs to be hosed down every few weeks to get rid of any smells and to keep things clean.

When my dog is outdoors either in the yard or when we're taking our daily walk around the neighborhood, I take a stick with a bag at the end, and my dog poops directly the bag. Works right away, doesn't scare the dog. 1: This would be super helpful.

2: It would be helpful because when I use a shovel to scoop my dog's shit I wreck my back, and having this scooper would let me just walk around and pick up the poop without having to strain my back.

We use this swivel bucket with plastic grocery bags inside to pick up poo a few times a week. It has hooks on the side for the bag handles, but fits bags much bigger than typical single-poop bags.

My neighbor carries a metal pooper scooper with him when he walks his dog. Empties it when they get home.

Oh ok. Yeah, we have 2 dogs and the neighboring lot is kind of a "neighborhood pooping ground" where no one picks anything up. Its pretty terrible. I usually clean up my yard once a week with a mini rake/dustpan like this.

Is your dog going to be pooping in the yard too? If so it might be a good investment to get a pooper scooper (like this rake) and maybe split the poop-scooping schedule if you don't wanna rock the boat since she's paying 2/3 of the rent?

I got one of these poop scoops about 8 or so years ago. It was one of the best purchases of my life. Two dogs and I haven't felt the texture of poop through a plastic bag since... Except when I remember my bags when I take them for a walk.
