This website says that the water coming out of the jet can attain speeds of up to 600mph. Assuming that the wheel is going at something closer to 400mph or ~180m/s (I doubt it would be going to full speed of the water), and taking in the size of a skateboard wheel (we are going to go with a 28mm radius and a mass of 0.1kg (based off an item on amazon)), than this thing is looking a centripetal force of ~125,000N, or about the weight of a school bus. That is also like ~70k rpm.
But yeah, the heat definitely contributed. That thing had to be hot as fuck.
Someone please check my math.

Like mountain board wheels? Or these $25 83mm Amazon mids
Completes will usually be cheaper, but most of the time will have subpar parts.
You need to know two things about wheels: size and softness.
Hard (99a) wheels tend to be for tricks and soft (78a) wheels tend to be for cruising/longboarding. 50-55mm is around the size wheels you'll use for flip tricks, 55mm+ is for anything tranny related or cruising/longboarding depending on the softness. Larger wheels mean you'll generally have a smoother ride and get caught on less things.
You're deck size doesn't exactly matter, but the shape does and your truck size kinda do. If your deck has wheel wells, you can ride larger wheels without your board catching your wheels and tossing you (aka wheelbite). If your trucks are higher, you can ride larger wheels without getting wheelbite. If you have risers or tight trucks/firmer bushings (the hard rubber parts of your trucks), you can also ride larger wheels without getting wheelbite.
So now that you know about the basics, on an standard popsicle deck with standard trucks something around 86a 55mm is a happy medium. I have the 86a 57mm Ricta Clouds on my hybrid board and 78a 58mm Nineballs on my cruiser. I have risers on both since I ride loose trucks. I ride my cruiser or longboard when I know I'm riding somewhere with shit pavement, but if I want to be able to attempt tricks and not have the board bounce back when the wheels hit the ground, I'm riding the hybrid.
I'm doing some research to buy my first board. I heard that the first thing to do is choose what I want to do with it. My idea is to use it for commuting, but my commutes are really long, so I started to look into Long Distance Pushing, since that is what most resembled it ( it's about 18 miles each way, so let's say 36 a day ) . I don't really know if I'll be able to skate that much, what I want is to push and feel like I'm actually going forward. I want to push and go fast without pushing 1000 times. I have a skateboard in my house but I can't use it because when I push I feel like the wheels are stuck or something like that. That skate is like 10 years old, so I thought it was because the bearings were dirty or something like that. I changed them. Nothing. Then a couple of weeks later I tried a longboard at Walmart. I could only push once and for less than 30 ft ( you know, space was a bit limited ) but I felt it easier. You know, like I could push once and go for much longer
Even though I'm going to use it for commuting, it's mostly for a trip I'm going to do, so it can't be THAT expensive. Before this, I was going to buy a Penny longboard because it's cheap ( 100 USD ) but I mostly read bad things about it from this sub and then again, the most important part is to push and feel. it. go. ( going fast without pushing 1000 times ) , so I thought maybe that wasn't a good idea
So... this is what I came up with. Tell me what you think and if I'm in the right path. Also, please tell me if I understood something wrong. If it helps, I'm 5 ft 5, 140 lb, and my legs are quite strong. I'm going for around 200 USD for my first time ( already double what I was going to spend on the Penny on the first time) :

Then, the harder they are, the more they slide, so I want the hardest wheels possible, right?
I chose the orange Orangatang Kegels ( 80mm, 80a, 60 USD )

The higher baseplate angle, the easier it is to turn. I chose 50-degree trucks, the Caliber II Fifty ( they come in 9 and 10 inches, 40 USD)

What do you think? This is about 210 USD including the helmet I chose, the Triple 8 brainsaver (36 USD)
Am I missing something?
It's pretty noticable regarding turning. Also, the big wheels might be the smoothest ride / commute that I've ever had... Setup:

I hope that helps! I also didn't like the blue, but it was the best I could find on that site. I can poke around on Amazon as well and will get back to you if I see anything. The most popular wheel on this subreddit right now are the 92a 55mm Ricta Clouds, but they seem to be very expensive in Europe.
These are my favorite wheels in 56mm: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spitfire-Formula-Classic-Skateboard-Wheels/dp/B00J7T0SSY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473351119&sr=8-1&keywords=spitfire%2Bformula%2Bfour&psc=1
The 56mm makes up a bit for the hardness, but they are slightly harsh for some of the newer skaters.
They do make some slightly softer ones: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spitfire-Formula-Wheels-Classic-Skateboard/dp/B00J7T0N16/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473351119&sr=8-2&keywords=spitfire%2Bformula%2Bfour&psc=1
This is the best I could find for Ricta Clouds from the sites you mentioned: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ricta-Clouds-Skateboard-Wheels-White/dp/B01J9RQ0LC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1473351053&sr=8-3&keywords=ricta+clouds+54mm

I linked this recently. The last picture is with the all terrain tires. I recommend getting it on Amazon over eBay so you can grab the warranty. He also lists a different drive gear kit, I'll link the other one. You could also mount it on a different deck. The one big drawback is the single motor.

How would 59mm wheels fit on a board that comes with 52mm wheels?
Actually there are these: http://www.amazon.com/Vault-Fiberflex-62mm-46mm-Wheels/dp/B007H36MC8 they're close to your price
I'm running MBS 100mm wheels on mine and I love it. Those wheels are better suited to higher speed in uneven surfaces due to convex profile. Less effective in carving perfectly smooth surfaces than Kegel, but in speeds around 20mph MBS wheels feel great. The top speed is around 26mph with a hit on accel and brake distance. I got used to it.

Ya, a lot of the wheels I found looked lower quality then the stock ones that came with my complete. I may save up for some sector 9 wheels I saw that are the same size, so I wouldn't need to use risers or anything.
The sector 9 wheels I found: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009ZC8AVA/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473631139&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=70+mm+longboard+wheels&dpPl=1&dpID=51Z6a-kKoVL&ref=plSrch
Thanks! That was very helpful. Would these be fine?

This has probably been asked a million times, but I'm looking for a 70mm wheel that is decently hard for speed, but grippy enough for carving.
I bought these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003GAYGTM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They suck for speed but grip like no other. I'm looking for a good balance between the two.

What color of the caliber v2 trucks do y'all think would go well with the 77a blue Caguamas? I'm gonna be putting it on a deck that is just wood colored on the bottom. I'll change the griptape in the future, but for now it's just black. I like the lavender, sea foam, and coral colors, but part of me wants to play it safe and just go with the Smoke color or the white/gold. There will be bones reds in the blue/green caguamas too, but they won't be too noticeable. I like the bright colors. Thanks for the help.

Stock belts and covers... To make the stock covers work, do your belt tension, then loosen wheel and wiggle out a few mm, then put cover on and tighten wheel
i ride a penny skateboard around and they use 59mm 78a wheels. You could get bigger wheels if you wanted, but with so many people copying penny, wheels in this size are pretty easily obtained, and about $10 cheaper than typical longboard wheels ($25 as opposed to $35)
http://www.amazon.com/Tiger-Boards-Skateboard-Wheels-Black/dp/B008Y2RN2E/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1361049014&sr=8-14&keywords=59mm+wheels&tag=side01b-20
and if you dont have bearings, you can get the stereo vinyl cruiser wheels. those come with bearings
http://www.amazon.com/Stereo-Vinyl-Cruiser-Wheels-Color/dp/B005QK7GLA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1371506149&sr=8-2&keywords=stereo+vinyl+wheels
Everyone here seems to love Ricta Clouds, I ordered a pair because of that for cruising too.
I went with the 86A 55mm so I don't have to buy a riser pad (hopefully, no problem with 54mm so far) they are quiet expensive though.
You might want even softer wheels though, and bigger ones, take a look at these https://www.amazon.com/Ricta-Clouds-White-Skateboard-Wheels/dp/B0049W3TVW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473786573&sr=8-2&keywords=ricta+clouds
You would probably need a 1/4" riser pad for those, they are around $5
That's what I read- can I effectively power slide on these types of wheels?
https://www.amazon.com/Tiger-Boards-Skateboard-Wheels-Black/dp/B008Y2RN2E?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1
(These are not my exact wheels- just similar to the type I have on my board)
Be warned: I bought the conversion kit thinking it would work with these MBS all-terrain wheels... it does not.
https://www.amazon.com/MBS-All-Terrain-Longboard-Wheels/dp/B074G95LP5
Apparently it previously did, but MBS changed their core design. I was advised by SR that I can make the conversion kit pulleys fit by slightly filing down the pieces that fit into the wheel core) but I assume that might make it an insecure fit for their wheels such as the Foamies.

I'm a college student who weighs ~170 lbs (77 kg) and is currently trying to cruise around 10+ miles (16+ km) for transportation purposes on and off campus.
I ride on uneven sidewalks, bricks, and rough asphalt. I have a drop-through deck that can fit wheels up to 114 mm in diameter and 53 mm in width.
I dont know if I should ride with soft wheels (78a), hard wheels (82a), or somewhere in-between (80a).
I have a few wheels that have caught my eye:
My question: Which wheels will be right for what I demand(short & long distance cruising)?
and what range on the durometer (for cruising purposes) should certain people have their wheels on?

Was looking at these instead of inboard. inboard sells their own at $50 a pair. The rear euro is 78a, will it matter if the front is 80a? From what I've read online it won't unless I'm trying to slide, which I'm not.
I'm new and need help putting to get a board.
Copy paste of my post that got removed:
So a couple days ago I rode longboards with friends around the city and realized that skateboards are actually really fun and are a great form of transportation. I recently have been looking into parts for a board but I'm on a budget ($150ish usd). I've picked out a rough list of parts but i have no idea if they are necessarily "good", right for my intentions, or if I'm buying more/less than need, etc. Again, I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. The kind of board I'm looking for is affordable with decent quality. I intend to use the board to ride around town (my town is really flat) for transportation or just ride for fun. I also prefer to have controlled/somewhat sharp turning ability. (It'd also be nice to have one that looks nice, though not completely necessary). I say again, new to this, don't know anything. noflame

I found these on Amazon. Their duro is 99a according to the Q&A. Do you know what size I should get? Does it matter much? The cruiser wheels on the board right now are 60 mm (measured with a ruler). I was thinking either 54mm or 52mm.
I'd check out the Sweet Spot Beluga has a nice big core, 80a and only $48. (They don't have a shop on their home site so they sell on amazon...)
