After years of doing my makeup standing up in a tiny shared bathroom, I finally have a getting ready space of my own! We just moved into our first house, and I decided to convert the spare bedroom into a 'Glam Room'! In the room, I painted the walls, DIYed the no-sew faux Roman Shades (there's real honeycomb blinds behind them), wired the lighting, and assembled the furniture (with a buddy)! This was quite undertaking, and more than a few late night tears were shed throughout the process, but I could not be more pleased with the way it turned out!

Getting ready to DIY a makeup space of your very own, or have you already created you ideal space? I love to see pics of what you've done!

I posted the initial progress last month to a crazy amount of love! There were a lot of you wondering where we got our stuff, so I thought I'd post the links below!

We've learned that Target online is amazing and it's totally possible to fill your space with things you love. Just have a little patience!

More photos HERE! All we have left are some cute accessories that'll add more personality to the space. We're open to suggestions! Next up: finding some wooden stump for the end of that couch!!!

LINKS:

- Couch: Moe's Collection

- Dining Table: Moe's again!

- Shelf: TARGET

- TV console: AMAZON

- Couch console (with small drawer): AMAZON

- Coat Hanger: WAYFAIR

- Entryway console: TARGET

- Stools: TARGET AGAIN!

- Chandelier (which was a bitch to set up!): TARGET

- Shoe bench (with storage): TARGET

- Coffee table (with two drawers): Can you guess where?

- Bar Cart: WAYFAIR

- Pillows, rug, throws, coasters and most little accessories are from Target (in-store). Bar cart supplies at William Sonoma and Pottery Barn!

- All of the plants except the Majesty Palm are from Costco (MP is from Home Depot)! 3-pack succulents for $20 and they usually show up on the weekends!

- Unfortunately, the city art piece was painted by my talented husband, but his idea is by no means his own. He saw some similar art displayed around the internet and the city and thought to himself, "hey, I can do this myself!"

This one is only $50 and you could probably just switch the top to a piece of glass for a reasonable cost? amazon

I got it on Amazon.

Mirage Mirrored 2-Drawer Console Table

I feel like it's pretty good quality for the cost! Super easy to put together too (just screw on the legs).
The stool I got a couple of years ago, from maybe overstock?

Amazon. Got this 11/26, have not reviewed it yet. Lucky it arrived in one piece, as many reviewers said it arrived damaged. Had to slightly adjust one of the door latches. It's nice enough, has been hand detailed, but the surface is rough in some spots.

Powell White Hand Painted 2 Drawer, 2-Door Console, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HKNB00/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_taa_tWV3Db17E803Y

Personally think it is a bit overpriced, but one of the best aspects of this buffet is that it is indeed only 11 inches deep. Perfect for a small space.

Sorry for being late, this took me lots of hours to make. Didn't get to finish it last night, so continued today.

Note: I only did this for fun, I am not an amazing expert in terms of interior design.

---

I used Google's SketchUp, which is a free 3D rendering . I haven't used this in a long time and also couldn't find the installation file to run this. So instead, I used the browser version. Which worked very well, but I couldn't find props, so I hand made everything.
Yes, the bloody plants were a disaster! I also went a bit crazy on my own picasso. Deal with it!

  • 3D render pictures:
  • Picture 1
  • Picture 2
  • Picture 3

  • Size reference list:
  • Couch, TV table, TV, Coffee table, Bookshelf
  • Chair, Small round table, Slim side table, Plant (lol)

    ---

Overall, I am not too sure about the fireplace. It feels a bit too cramped, but I had it further away from the fireplace which made it a bit awkward in terms of the couch.
I do really like the couch, but maybe instead of the coffee table, get either a smaller one or not one at all. You could consider a small TV stand and wall mount the TV instead.

Anyway, if you have any question. Don't hesitate to ask!

The desk in the image is custom, but you can find similar material by googling "reclaimed wood desk" or "reclaimed wood console"

Crazy expensive though

More realistic

Also try googling "sculptural" or "architectural" for other cool designs. The design in the image you provided isn't a denotable style that I know of

I found several large-furniture photography workflows, like this one - but they all seem to work on shadows in post (addressed in the 2nd video in that link).

As an example of what I'm trying to achieve - here's a random table on Amazon - it has no shadows at all underneath. What kind of set-up achieves this without clipping in post?

Thought it looked kinda retro. Not made of particle board either which is nice.

Ok! I missed the word smaller on the first pass through your comment and found this. I will try to look for more for you.

Maybe this?

Will your couch fit across the room if you put the TV on the wall with the Electrical room? That seems to be how most basements I've seen with this set-up are staged. Put the couch maybe halfway back towards the stairs, adjusting for doorways/tv comfort as needed, and then perhaps a small sofa table behind the couch, to separate the space a bit. I also saw one house set up like this that had a foosball table instead of a sofa table, if that's more your style.

Sort of like this. Couch in green in the middle, sofa table/coffee table in grey, tv in green at the bottom.

This got me looking through amazon. I like this one Mostly because it's cheap and it's so small that the mirror would be right in my face, which is what I need. I still have no idea where I would put any of these tables though.. :(

u/oddsnsodds · 1 pointr/buildapc

The smallest desk I found workable was inside a shelving unit; the shelves were 15" deep by 30" wide, just enough room for a keyboard in front of a monitor.

This is slightly larger and I would probably find it fine for temporary use:

Damn, so much unwarranted rudeness in the comments for just asking for help.

I would start looking around on Amazon, they have a pretty good desk selection. I don't know specifically what type of desk you are looking for but, something like this fits your dimensions.

You could also look into "training tables." that's what I use because I prefer large unobstructed desk space. I don't know what your budget is but something like this or this might work for you.

This table would go well in your place. Winsome Wood 40445 Xola Occasional Table, Cappuccino https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0046EC0O0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pge9BbHFN9BKA

Wanted: Tall narrow bar style table. Think a regular bar table cut in half, kind of like this. The material isn't overly important, I'm mostly showing that picture for a general idea of the narrowness.

If you have one for sale, please let me know! I will give you money!
