My cat is a fuzzy little jerk just like yours. I had tried putting the TP behind the toilet on the tank, on the counter, wherever. Cat still got to it. Tried to keep the door closed, but my roommate is a jerk and never remembers to close the damn door.



Then I found this weird thing on amazon. It's like a little elastic locking gizmo for the toilet roll, you just unlock it to unroll TP, then lock it back up when you're finished with the business. Voila, no more wasted toilet paper.

We ended up needing one of these freestanding toilet paper holders for our bathroom. Now our boys, 10 and 8, actually change the rolls... however we still can't get them to move the empty cardboard tube the two feet from the counter to the trash.

I use the JTech grip case for my Switch. Coincidentally the flat space between the grips on those case has the same length as this metal top. Therefore it fits perfectly and makes it a pretty secure place where the Switch doesn't accidentally fall on the ground because it perfectly locks in place.

To be honest, I don't know what the excitement is over the Japanese (and German, apparently) solutions. They tend to be more expensive and break more easily without actually being more convenient. I prefer the hook style holders, they are just as convenient, and significantly more reliable.

We keep our toilet paper in a holder like this. You can also get dispensers that are completely enclosed. Cut off access and keep working on impulse control.

With one of these style holders, its just as easy to put the roll on it as it is to set it down. And they can't set it down on the holder either. If they still refuse to replace the roll onto it, there is a bigger issue than just laziness.

You could try something like the TP Saver, but I think that would be pretty easy for an adult to bypass.

My best suggestion is to put aside toilet rolls when they're down to an amount that wouldn't clog the bowl. Put one of these in the bathroom before the party starts and store all other TP in another room. When one short roll runs out, replace it with another.

Maybe post a note as to why you have to do it this way. Other guests may mention that they've had the same problem; and the list of suspects can be narrowed down that way.

I got a standing desk because of some other issues, but it inadvertently helped a lot with keeping my cat off my desk when he was having super needy moments and I really needed to get something done without a tiny fluffy godzilla stomping all over my desk. Having spill-proof containers for liquids helps a lot too. Everything else, except my monitors/mouse/keyboard, stays in a bag. My boy is less than a year old and very rambunctious though.

Sometimes just setting him down every time he jumps up annoys him enough to leave it alone, but he's damned persistent. Playing with him a few minutes on my bed and setting up a new configuration with his tunnels and toys seems to help too.


With blinds, I've found that vertical blinds work out well. I still have to adjust them occasionally, because he stomps through them, but they don't collapse like horizontal blinds do and they tend to just fall back into place. I also have to keep the chain tucked up and away, because he'll try to run off with it (and I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself by jumping off the window sill with it in his mouth).


I've been considering something like this for the toilet paper battle, but for now I've just resorted to keeping the bathroom door closed because I don't want cat fur in my tub.

I own one of that design. It would be much better without the top flat, which gets in the way and fails to make the holder any more aesthetically pleasing. It's not as if it hides the fact you have toilet paper there, and the flap serves no functional purpose.
