We seem to "grow" stuffed animals like weeds. I don't know where they come from, but there just seem to be more and more. My kids absolutely love them, though, and most of them are gifts. I'll take 50 stuffed animals over a single toy that sings and makes noise. Plus, stuffed animals encourage creativity... they're not so bad.

One thing we've done (all props to my wife for finding this) is the bean bag storage for all the animals (https://www.amazon.com/Creative-QT-Stuff-Sit-Available/dp/B01MRNY6WS). You stuff all the animals into the bean bag as the filling. Because they're stuffed animals, it's still comfy, and now you have a chair and storage.

Not OP, but if I've learned anything in life - I've learned that if it can't be found on Amazon- it can't be found.

This popped up when I was browsing Amazon today. I find it to be hilarious for what you might use it for.

In all seriousness, I've gotten some really cool trunks at the flea market and I've seen some on the buy sell trade pages. I haven't actually looked into it but I'd be willing to bet that somebody out there has made a blog post /reddit post /tutorial on turning them into treasure chests if you are diy inclined (I am so that's where my brain usually goes, how can I do it cheaper/better)

Yard sale season is coming up, so scour your area for those. We scored a free toy storage shelves like this and this lego/train table with storage underneath - both for free on the curb in our neighborhood. I also got alphabet foam mats like this one for $10 on craigslist.

As far as stuff we paid for that I'd recommend:

  • This storage thing - it's sturdy and not too expensive.

  • This matching bookshelf.

  • One or two of these hammocks for stuffed animals.

I'm not sure if you're looking for toy suggestions, too, or just room design elements...

:o

It's a toy hammock thing, it hangs from a corner and you can put your stuffies in it! Great for when you have limited space, AND it lets the stuffies still be out!

I made one back in April and followed these instructions, but used 2 x 3s instead.
I made the holes with a dremel tool with the circle cutter and a cheap net I found on amazon. I used an indoor/outdoor carpet from home depot. Luckily I had most of the material in the shed left over from previous projects, but I'd estimate about $60-$75 for materials. I bought these balls from amazon. My "chipping mats" are left over indoor/outdoor carpet stapled to left over plywood.

What I think about my version: Following the corn hole instructions make it pretty sturdy, even with the 2x3's. However, they are large and somewhat awkward to carry. They aren't easy to transport in my car (mazda3 hatchback), so I am looking to make a lighter version like /u/garzalaw, but maybe have them fold in half with a hinge and lock with a bolt lock for easier transport?

It's a fun game, but challenging if you and your buddies aren't that great at golf (my buddies and myself). I practice with it in the backyard pretty frequently with real balls.

Thanks, UPS!
I would love this stuffed animal holder to help organize my room! http://www.amazon.com/Kidde-Stuffed-Animal-Storage-Hammock/dp/B00GU2WAIW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397617585&sr=8-3&keywords=stuffed+animal+net It's on my "Room Remodel" list :)

I second the hammocks other people mentioned. I have two and they store soooo much more than I expected.

I'll also add an empty storage bean bag, like this. Stores tons of stuffies if you get a big one, and you get a cute bean bag seat thing out of it! mine is this grey one with stars, but if you look around on amazon, there are tons of different patterns and colors. here's a really cute floral one that I might get sometime in the future.

Hopefully that link works! This thing holds so much! I’ve got 2 regular sized garbage bags of stuffies and a queen sized comforter in there. There’s still so much room!
