Honestly, the way that I learned typing was with those Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing program.

It is wise to be cautious but don't wander over the fence to paranoia. The bulk of the malware that you will encounter will throw a million ads at you and try to scare you into buying software that removes malware. Essentially cyber extortion, "We have you computer, pay us 59.99 or it gets the clamp!". If AVG and the above mentioned program isn't picking anything up then you are most likely fine.
