Please plug in your phone and backup your information before it decides to stop working.

Also, if you have any screen issues, look into something like this and just plug in a mouse.

WTF are you talking about? There's tons of non-Apple A to C adapters, and they're like $5.

u/citypanda · 3 pointsr/Honor8

I do it all the time! You need one of these, then your friend can plug their phone into yours and it'll charge from your battery.

This works on any USB-C device, from the Pixel to the Honor 8. And I love it!

I have this Aukey OTG adapter and so far it's been great. I haven't used it a lot since I've only had it for a few days, but it has a solid and firm connection. I was worried it might feel loose

USB Type C to USB A Female

or

USB Type C + Type A USB Drive, 128GB

I was going to type 'or PXE' but then I realized, I have no idea if Macbooks support PXE booting.

Something like this should work:

Keep in mind that space WILL be an issue on a laptop. You may not be able to fit two adapters next to each other, so you might be better off with a short extension adapter that has a smaller plug.

Like I was just saying to someone else, If you're willing to drop $25 on a Mayflash MAGIC-NS Adapter, then you can use just about any wired USB/Bluetooth controller on the Switch. If you want to use when it's out of the dock it's +$6 for a USB type C male to USB 3.0 female cable. I have no idea about the latency.

> Oh yeah, let me just throw literally every peripheral I own away so that I won't have to pay attention when I pull a cable from the cable box.

Every time something like this happens this is typically how it goes down:

For the first year or two it's a pain in the ass. Adapters fucking everywhere.

When Apple removed the CD drive from the Macbook, people were outraged. When I got a new one, I got a USB to CD adapter just in case. I initially used it a lot, but over time, less and less media was being distributed via CD and more and more on the Internet. I haven't used a CD drive in years (not to mention a CD itself).

The same thing is going to happen with USB-C: at first we're going to need adapters. Your current peripherals aren't going to be useless; you don't have to throw them away. Over the next couple of years, as your camera ages, as your keyboard breaks, as your phone becomes obsolete, you'll upgrade and there you'll see that they use the port you used to rant about on the internet is what comes in the box.

This is how change happens: gradually.

USB-C is the future. We could keep around USB-A and HDMI and MagSafe so nobody has to spend $4.99 on a stupid adapter. But, all that would do is leave this useless port on our computers.

Believe it or not, Apple has serious pull in the laptop industry. More than 10% of all computer users use a Mac. If Apple decides to put only USB-C ports on their laptops, peripheral manufacturers can't afford to tell them to fuck off. So they make a few USB-C peripherals and eventually other PC manufacturers add USB-C ports to their computers for cross-compatibility. This increases USB-C's use in the market pushing more PC manufacturers to put USB-C ports on their laptops and the cycle continues until USB-A is an exhibit at the Smithsonian. If Apple decided to keep a few ports around peripheral makers won't convert to the objectively superior standard that is USB-C (increased R&D costs mostly).

So yeah, the the new Macbook is difficult to use now, but it's for the best. USB-C is vastly superior to USB-A, HDMI, MagSafe, and every other port it replaces. We'd be fools not to embrace it. But, like I said, change happens gradually. If you're not ready, don't get a new MacBook. Keep your camera, use your USB-A mouse, enjoy listening to music on your headphone-jack-equipped phone. But, eventually, USB-A will be gone and you won't miss it.

I use the one that came with my Google Pixel phone, but this one seems pretty much exactly the same; cheap too: https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Adapter-Type-C-MacBook-Google/dp/B00W98IJ0O

In case you still got stuff on your phone that you want to back up, you could connect a regular computer mouse via USB so you at least could still control your phone.

Probably with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W98IJ0O?pldnSite=1

Don't forget these handy helpers. I usually carry the surface in my bag so i don't see a problem with a small adapter. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00W98IJ0O/ref=psd_mlt_nbc_B01AHKYIRS_p

I continue to use an AmazonBasics wireless optical mouse. Bought the following USB-C to USB 3.0 female adapter, and it works just fine.

Yes, I would suggest using an adapter rather than going with Bluetooth. Have not had consistent experiences with Bluetooth mouse, and most of them receive poor reviews.

I posted this a few days ago:

You're better getting the sandisk double ended sticks, or just do what I did for my phone and put one of their Tiny Ultra Fit Flash drives in a USB C adaptor of this style. Not quite as elegant as a properly designed double ended flash drive, but it works fine, and you have the added bonus of having a USB-C to Female-A adaptor with a lanyard hole (on the sandisk), that you can keep where you'd normally put your flash drive!

I guess it's easier to understand if I link some stuff.

You can get something like this cable, this adapter, this hub, or anything else that looks similar. They all do the same thing so it doesn't really matter which. Any of them can connect to the bottom of the Switch to let you plug USB stuff in. Switch has the same kind of port (it's called USB-C) as the recent Macbooks so a lot of these things say they're for Macbook but they work with Switch too.

Only some USB LAN adapters work with Switch. Here's a few examples: HORI, Plugable, Cable Matters, AmazonBasics. Any of these work the same so get whichever one you can. They all work with the dock too.

If you don't care about using a LAN adapter with your dock at all, you could also get this LAN adapter instead which plugs directly into the Switch without needing another adapter, but you cannot use it when the Switch is docked.

Which kind of adapter did you try? I think USB-C to A female, e.g. this, should work. Although, I don't have a pixel to test this.

It doesn't work to use a OTG-adapter (USB micro to A female) and a A-male to USB-C cable, since the OTG end should be connect to the phone and not the Trezor.

u/ilikmn · 1 pointr/GearVR

I guess I have only tried it on Ocean Rift and Cosmos Warfare, so maybe that's the problem. I was using the Xinput mode, and my phone is running nougat. I'll try oculus arcade next

Edit: not even Oculus Arcade sees the controller. When I press the little "mode" button on the controller, the led lights up, which makes this even more weird. Could the adapter I bought just be wired for power, and not data? I'm using this one: https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Adapter-Type-C-MacBook-Google/dp/B00W98IJ0O/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1498488646&sr=8-10&keywords=usb+c+to+a
