Yes to all. I really like this keyboard (use it for work) and I'm a big fan of simpler mice. Ideally I would have two or three monitors, but you don't necessarily need to factor that into the budget.

Thanks so much for your help!!

I'm going to warn you right now, you are going to need to do some of these:

  • Get very cheap keyboards because you will replace them a lot.
  • Keep a backup keyboard new, in the wrapper (there's nothing more frustrating then losing a keyboard and not having a backup)
  • OR, and this is what I do, buy the only keyboard i can find with an on/off switch, combined with a rubber cover over the keyboard to keep cat hairs out. the keyboard I use is about 60 bucks. a Logitech k800. it has an on/off switch on the top right.

the reason to do this, is if you don't the cat will start mashing on keys, typing shit to other people in chat, as well as open numerous programs you didn't even know existed, and lots of other fun stuff. Including laying on it when you aren't there, and opening so many additional chrome windows it kills the entire o/s

the rubber skin allows me to replace the keyboard at a MUCH lower rate. you'll be surprised how short a keyboard life is when it's jam packed with cat fuzz. and believe me, once they start doing it, it's hard to stop it. they do it to get your attention.

and believe me, i'm not kidding about any of this: Imgur

anyway, it's worth every penny and every second of aggravation

    EDIT: Your Weapons:

    Logitech K800: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Illuminated-Keyboard-K800/dp/B003VAGXWK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466177267&sr=8-1&keywords=k800

Very very nice keyboard, two years ago they were $110.00. i love the feel and low profile, but the light up keys is the best

    Rubber cover: https://www.amazon.com/Keyboard-Logitech-K800-Liquids-Contaminants/dp/B005RZ8104/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466177320&sr=8-1&keywords=k800+cover

Surprisingly easy to get used to.. hated it the first week but got used to it and I can type as fast as i can without.

it's very thin and fits perfectly. however, use the shitty adhesive that is on the rubber, but i go over it with duct tape because the adhesive will wear out and the rubber will get distorted a little.

It gets old after awhile, so i always keep a backup keyboard, and a backup rubber cover.

I decided it was time to get my home office in order. The desk needed to be big enough to accommodate my day-job laptop as well as my laptop that I use for my photography business. It also had to be small enough to fit in my master bedroom.

Inspired by the minimalist setup by /u/hazzid (https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/comments/4iyjjw/new_house_new_setup_let_me_know_what_you_think_my/), I got to work.

You can't go wrong with Microsoft or Logitech. I myself have a Logitech K800, I love this thing. Then for a mouse I have a Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse, another amazing product. Both look sleek and sexy, function well, and haven't had any problems. Though it is over your budget, I would really recommend it.

u/noteandcolor · 5 pointsr/Accounting

I use a K800 and M510. Logitech is the only way to go.

Are you really getting downvoted for this? You're right. Running an HDMI to your room, which for some is nowhere nearby, and would need to be like 100 feet long is an inconvenience alone ($80). On top of that, you need to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse, both of which are expensive and have limited range that may not even reach if your room or a place to play is far away ($70, and $80 for gaming ones). THEN, you are expected to have a monitor in your room, and if you don't, then you need to buy one, and a decent one suddenly makes this not so convenient or cheap (For one of equal size that has HDMI input, $190). That is about $420 (/r/im14andthisisfunny), which is more expensive, and even if you find cheaper parts (I just looked for well reviewed, popular ones, which are usually a good value), setting it up is a heck of a lot more effort. If you want to move the set up, good luck. While with the Shield, you can just pick it up and go. Also, like you said, it runs Android too, which has emulators for games, and tons of other apps not available for PC.

EDIT: Also, inb4 /r/HailCorporate. Maybe, juuuuust maybe, I don't work for a company, and I just don't like to see this guy downvoted for bringing up a valid point.

Also, I think I saved Roman from the injustice earlier when he brought up a valid point. From -2 to 8! I feel proud even though I probably had nothing to do with it.

$250.00 for a keyboard? I paid $75.00 for this one and have been way happy with it.

u/MoJoSto · 3 pointsr/oddlysatisfying

I've used a K800 for a couple years which is about a low as profiles come, but the switches are so damn fragile that i've snapped several clips and the bastards are pricey to replace. its tough to find anything akin to a low profile on mechanicals, but the feels outweigh the profile :)

u/LovecraftPlays · 3 pointsr/Twitch

When it comes to mice, I have always loved Logitech (Every Razor I've ever owned broke). My mouse of preference is the Logitech G600

Fully customizable button binds and macro capabilities; also that third mouse button for the ring finger, lovely!

As for Keyboard, I am not picky. Just a silent type Logitech K800.

I know Wireless isn't really fantastic when it comes to gaming, but I play with it wired when gaming and wireless when just browsing.

u/stat30fbliss · 2 pointsr/FindItOnAmazon

I have had this Logitech keyboard for over a year now, and it hasn't done me wrong. Love the lighting, and it is motion sensitive so you can wave your hand over it to light up, and it doesn't drain the rechargeable batteries by being lit all the time. Battery life is excellent too.

u/joke-complainer · 2 pointsr/battlestations

After your feedback, I've switched things up to look like this.

I think I'll likely order a wireless keyboard as well to complete the cleaner look. Think this one will do the trick? http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Illuminated-Keyboard-K800/dp/B003VAGXWK/ref=pd_cp_147_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=18R3FQN5F78A1Q1T5WRA

Thanks!

In all seriousness using an HDTV is awesome and I would recommend this: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Illuminated-Keyboard-K800/dp/B003VAGXWK

I have a Logitech Performance MX and a wireless illuminated K800 keyboard. Both work in Ubuntu 13.04 just fine but the fact that the software doesn't work in Linux really bugs me. It's not great software but it prevents me from doing any customization. I really wish they would get on board.

u/ramtastic05 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Thanks for the giveaway op.

Here is my keyboard, it's a great wiresless keyboard, with an extremely long battery life and it is rechargeable. But it has been getting beat up by me when I play games.

I just bought these for playing games on my tv. So far they working great. I got them both used, so it was less than $100 for both.

u/JustARental · 1 pointr/buildapc

Could someone recommend me a good wireless keyboard? I was considering the [Logitech K800] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003VAGXWK?pc_redir=1398583734&robot_redir=1). I have a G602 mouse right now. If I wirelessly connect it to the keyboard and connect the keyboard to my PC, would there be too noticeable of lag?

u/yrah110 · 1 pointr/Vive

Not all logitech keyboards are bad. This one is badass

Your fingers feel like they are hitting tiny pillows and it doesn't have a bunch of useless bullshit.

u/JeskaAnn · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Holy cow!!

I really, really want this for my photo editing. It is currently listed under $100 and prime eligible...

Hello, Goodbye~

Edit: if that doesn't count for the contest than this keyboard would be cool.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VAGXWK

expensive, yes, but I looked at every damn keyboard out there and this is the only one that has everything I want in a keyboard.

u/Reapexx · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'd just get a good wired keyboard and a usb extension cable, but that's just me.

I always liked Logitech's wireless keyboards

u/steve_b · 1 pointr/emacs

The keyboard I've used for years, on windows, OSX and solaris machines has been this one: http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Y-RAQ-DEL2-Bluetooth-Keyboard-M-RBB-DEL4/dp/B01BL4NNZC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457031055&sr=8-1&keywords=dell+keyboard+raq-del2 . I'm currently using it as my my main input for my Macbook pro that spends all day connected to two external monitors with the lid closed.

I'm not sure if you can buy it anymore, but it appears there's a USB version of it here: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Enhanced-Black-Keyboard-SK-8115/dp/B00496FELQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457031155&sr=1-2

It's definitely quiet enough to use in an open plan office, as that's where I am now.

The keyboard I use at home, which is even quieter, is this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VAGXWK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

It's fine, but I like the more traditional key feel of the first two - I like keys that have longer action compared to the modern chiclet-style keyboards, and the raised keys of the first two allow me to use the heel of my left hand to hit the ctrl-key. Since the third keyboard has flatter keys, I can't use the heel technique on Ctrl as easily.

I map alt to meta, so I can use the heel and my left thumb for all the emacs operations without taking my fingers off the home row positions.

Are you absolutely sure that you need wireless peripherals? I'll recommend kinds for both just in case. There really aren't too many "Gaming" keyboards that are wireless.

Wireless Keyboard: Logitech K800

Wireless Mouse: Logitech G602

Wired Keyboard: Corsair K70 Mech MX Brown

Wired Mouse: Logitech G502

u/SlipperyFloor · 1 pointr/buildapc

I just bought these two items for what you are describing:
Mouse http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BFOEY3Y/ref=pe_385040_30332200_TE_item

Keyboard
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VAGXWK/ref=pe_385040_30332200_TE_item

The main reason I bought them was that they can be wired or wireless and are rechargeable.

If you plan to never game with a mouse and keyboard I would suggest this keyboard to save on space:

Logitech K800. I love mine. The reviews on amazon complaining about build quality are just stupid. Those people probably spill mountain dew all over the boards and then use them to beat their 10 house cats.
