If you're adventurous/fed-up, you can do the repair yourself pretty easily. It will probably take less than 15min from start to finish and about $30 in supplies.

You can check out someone going through the same procedure here.

USB Charging Port for Sprint

Super easy and doesn't really require any amount of real technical skill. If it ever breaks again, it's only like $18 for the actual port since you don't need to buy the tools again.

Probably not the easiest solution, but probably the cleanest and it will also allow you to connect your phone to a computer again if you need it.

No, the home button, and possibly camera and speaker, are different. They are mounted to the 5S digitizer and may not mount correctly to the iPhone 5 digitizer.

I smashed my iPhone 5s two days ago and fixed it myself.

I used these tools and this replacement screen, and followed the instructions in this video.

In addition to the tools, I used a piece of duct tape which was taped to my desk sticky-side up to hold all the screws in place after removing them, and used tweezers to pick them up and put them where they belong. I also needed a razor blade to open the case.

PM me if you have questions.

I wrecked the headphone jack on my Nexus 5 and decided I would give DIY repair a try. It turns out that working on these phones is not terribly difficult.

Here's a $60-ish kit on Amazon with new screen and tools for the job: http://www.amazon.com/Display-Screen-Digitizer-Assembly-Google/dp/B00HPRZPHO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1416507058&sr=8-2&keywords=nexus+5+screen

And a YT video on how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbcPQ6JKoJA (the vid is 15 mins long, so worst case you might spend 30 minutes on a DIY).

If you're already considering a new phone but liked your 5 for one reason or another you might want to give this a shot first. I was surprised at how easy it was to work on. Worst case scenario you're out $60 and 30 minutes of your time, but best case you keep the phone you already paid for.

Quick Edit: Looking further at the link I placed to the Amazon kit the reviews are pretty bad. Do some research and consider buying the screen and tools separate. When I did my repair I bought this toolkit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008CLO7Q2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and a $2 headphone jack replacement. Lots places refer to the Nexus 5 as the LG D820 as well, so you can search by that on AliBaba or eBay.

Also a computer repair technician here. I have both the harbor freight set and this iFixit set and the iWork set..

When comparing them, the only difference between the harbor freight set and the Ifixit is it that the 52-bit iFixit kit is the only one that comes with Apple pentalobe drivers, which is kind of a big deal. Quality wise however, the Ifixit set feels pretty crappy and isn't any better than the harbor freight set. On the other hand the iWork set is amazing in quality and craftsmanship and has elongated drivers to reach deep socket screws, I love my iWork set and will use it before anything else unless I need an Apple bit which only the iFixit has.

Buy a toolkit and a screen or two and set up a simple wordpress website offering phone repair in your town. Start a facebook page and find friends with broken phones and spread the word. Charge $100 per fix, takes 10 minutes and you'll be doing great for a 16 year old.
