That won't work. You need a converter box to actually get an analog signal from a digital output. Something like this is necessary.

While the Bose Lifestyle systems back in the day claimed "surround sound" with all of it's speakers, it was really just using Dolby Pro Logic to matrix the incoming stereo signal to all of it's speakers.

Ok, I wouldn't get my hopes up with that Bluetooth stuff, but you could always buy a digital to analog converter and use the PS4's optical out for sound.

So you don't want a soundbar you want a bluetooth speaker hooked up to the TV audio out. The problem is that you're going to have to get an optical/digital to RCA/analog converter. So you'll need the converter $10, the optical cable $6, and the RCA to 3.5mm cable $5. So now you have a maximum of $80 for the bluetooth speaker. The Oontz XL might be good but it's over budget.

A receiver would be an option. If larger size is alright and you'd prefer an all in one package, then that's what I'd go with. You will have to spend more though, and to hook up a PS4 you'll have to find something that takes optical inputs, or buy a cheap DAC to convert the signal.

You are going to have to be more descriptive about what you are doing with your computer so I know what type of power you will need.

Also do you mean stereo RCA or S/PDIF RCA here's is photo comparing the two cables. Usually the S/PDIF RCA cable is orange.

Basically there is zero way you are getting a sound card in that case because there is no PCI bracket and no soundcards that use PCI-E x16 which is the only pci slot Mini-ITX motherboards provide as far as I know.

It you just need stereo RCA you can just use a basic 3.5mm to RCA cable like these 1 and 2.

If you need S/PDIF you will need a motherboard with S/PDIF TOSLINK output and connect it to a converter to S/PDIF RCA. An easier option would have been to use the internal S/PDIF connecter on the motherboard to connect to a add on pci bracket that has S/PDIF RCA, but this is out of the question because your case doesn't have a PCI mounting bracket.

Your audio options are HDMI or optical, the PS4 doesn't output an analog signal. You need a receiver to convert the digital signal to analog, or just a cheapy converter like this one.

HOWEVER, you can get analog output from the controller. There's a setting to change the controller from "chat audio" to "all audio", but then you need your speakers plugged in to your controller at all times.

This I have hooked up from my TV's optical out, and then use the red/yellow component cables into an LG stereo.
The bass is very low however. Not sure if its the TV not outputting 2.1 correctly or the unit.

You can use an optical to RCA converter along with a RCA to 3.5mm cable. Connect the TV's TOSLink cable to the converter's optical input, connect the Y-cable to the converter's RCA output ports and the Sony's 3.5mm audio in. And done.

The biggest issue you will have is video latency/delay. The Elgato Game Capture HD60 will have a few seconds of delay on both the video and audio before it's sown in your streaming software.

If you want to control the audio from the PS4 and Xbox One with the mixer, you will need to get something to delay the audio to match it up or else the audio will be played in real time and the video show up later on the stream.

You will need some expensive equipment to delay the audio in real time (it can be done easily in software but you need either another computer to do it or bypass the mixer completely). Considering the audio will be most likely stereo, you will need two audio delay boxes. The only one I can think of on top of my head that's not "too expensive" is the Behringer Shark FBQ100 but you will need two. They can delay the audio to up to 2.5 seconds (WHICH MAY NOT BE ENOUGH FOR THE ELGATO!)

How do you exactly get the audio from the Xbox and PS4? With a digital to analog converter. Use the optical out on the consoles and RCA to jacks from it and into the mixer.

You ask what headset you should buy. If you plan on using the mixer with a gaming headset you have to look elsewhere because that will not work. You can use a gaming headset with audio only via the headphone out on the mixer with but you need a proper microphone to use with the mixer.

Is this all worth doing with your current setup? Absolutely not. The first thing you need to do is replace your capture card with something that's low latency.

The best capture card you can get for this today is the Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI. It's a tad expensive but worth every penny. A step down would be the Black Magic Intensity Pro (which I currently use and own with audio going into my Behringer 802USB mixer). The other "gaming" capture card brands has some low latency cards as well but I would not recommend them.

Once you have a low latency capture card you can start plugging your consoles audio into it.

Did you make sure that on your PS4 you have "All Audio" set in the "Output to headphones" section? Otherwise you won't hear anything. Also Make sure you volume is up in the "Volume Control (headphones). I don't use a chat cable but I do have this box to connect digital audio so that I can use any headphones I want to hear the game and have ElGato record the HDMI sound.

Yes I understood that. So you can't use the analogue audio in on the TV, because that's for sending TO the TV, but you can use the optical digital audio out to one of these converters and then into the Line In on the amp.

Is response time the most important thing to you about monitors? Because if you relax your limit to say 4/5 ms you can get an IPS panel which will give you much nicer colors and generally look better.

Do you want the monitors to match or do you care if they are different? Is there a size you want?

As for speakers, you can buy the standard computer speakers and they will emit sound, but as you will be using this for movies as well I recommend you go the amp/bookshelf route.

Wow! I had that receiver growing up. Think my mother bought it in 93'. Now before you go buy the needed equipment to get this thing running just know it does not provide real surround sound and is inferior is every possible way to the cheapest modern 5.1 receivers and you are far better off putting money toward a new/used/refurbished one. If all you want is to power a couple speaker and don't care about surround then you'll be fine.

I concur with u/donFrio on the Apple TV and wireless hdmi to projector.
My current solution in the house is to use the Apple TV as the receiver for just video (I don't have any gaming systems). You can get a wireless HDMI Switcher for the PS4 and XBone (in the link below) to switch between the VIDEO feeds.

Ultimately you would have all the gadgets (appleTV, PS4, XBone, bluray) in the table by the screen, connect them all to the HDMI switch input. Connect the HDMI switch output to the wireless HDMI transmitter and VOILA, hdmi transmitter wirelessly transmits whatever media you want to the projector.

On the audio side it would probably be recommended to get a receiver of some kind since you have so many different devices you would have to switch audio on...or just keep using the bluray player as a receiver??

I was wondering whether the TRS<->XLR cable was picking up RF from your PC. If plugging your phone in stops the problem then it sounds as though it is not RF noise (no guarantees though, it's not 100% conclusive). I would guess that there is noise being injected onto the power supply rails by e.g. the graphics card and the Fiio doesn't have enough power supply filtering to deal with it. Something like that anyway...

I can't guarantee that any of these solutions will work but they are all less than $100:

• Does your mobo have optical out? If so, you could try a cheap optical to rca DAC such as this
  
  
• You could try using a powered usb hub and plug the Fiio into that (some monitors also have USB ports).
  
  
• If the cable was suspiciously cheap, you could try a TRS<->TRS cable instead.
  
  
  
  

I had my X11s set up using the following method and it worked. I had to buy the following things:

Xbox One Headset adapter

Optical to RCA converter

Optical Cable

You'll plug one end of your optical cable into your Xbox One and the other end into the Optical port on the Converter. Then, plug your red and white RCA connectors on your X11s into the Red and White jacks on the Converter (you now have game audio).

For chat, there should be a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter that comes with the XB1 headset adapter. Use that.

This is how I used my X11s when the adapter first game out.





Another possibility I just thought of while typing this up is using something like a PC-headset to Smartphone Adapter. In theory this should work, but I have not tested it so i cannot guarantee it.

In this scenario, you'd simply take the Pink and Green 3.5mm connectors on the X11s and plug them directly into Mic and Speaker Jacks and then plug that adapter into your controller.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the pricing of these. I read the title, and thought, no way they are that cheap. Googled. Wow.

On to the answer.

That one is nice, seems fine anyways. There is also this. They seem about the same, both take Coax or Optical and convert it to RCA. However, this one doesn't have 3.5mm, and is cheaper. So if you don't need a headphone jack, and go Amazon, I would get this one I think.

However, Amazon isn't the only way. If you are worried about returns, you can get it other places. Wallmart.com has this one. I am not sure about their return policy for outside shippers, but still. Also, Wallmart sells this one. More then you want to spend, but it is sold FROM wallmart.

You can also get this one for $40 from Tiger Direct ( a well liked tech store), or This one from NewEgg (my preferred Tech store)

Actually, I would get the Newegg one. It is cheap, and shippped by NewEgg. They are a nice company with a good return policy. Much better then Amazon.

Ok, got you a solution.

You have a coax digital audio out on your TV, its actually the black hole just to the left of the white triangle.

You need a digital coax cable, and a converter to switch it to red/white RCA

If you don't want to get the Xbox one stereo adapter ($30), turtle Beach has a optical to "simulated surround" adapter called the DSS ($40 eBay) or the DSS ($70 Amazon). But the cheapest option would be a regular optical converter for around $12 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005DIRI6I

There will always be latency when converting digital to analog right? I've read it's around 10ms and shouldn't be noticable.

When you are talking about RCA to spdif/optical converter, it's a DAC right? I've seen this which I guess is what I need (the z1 has RCA output and my amp coaxial or optical input) but wanted to double check.

You can get one of these for pretty cheap, dvi and hdmi are the same signal so you don't need an active converter. For your computer you can probably just get a simple 3.5mm audio jack to rca cable to use that. For most other things you can use an optical to rca dac, it's much easier to just use an audio cable then try to get it from hdmi. You just need to get an optical cable.
