List:
Bookbag - It always changes brands but this is the layout. It held up for over a year of High school abuse for what it's worth. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S6LWPS6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_U8IDDbA3M3JDJ )
Anker Portable Charger - Yes it has a lot of stickers. It doesn't have USB Type C, but it lasts me well over a week for casual charges on the headphones and some friends' phones. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JIWQPMW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IbJDDbA3Z070Z )
Breath Mints - Because speeches and girlfriends are a thing. (To clarify I have one girlfriend and multiple speeches)
Calculator - AP Calc is a jerk, but this helps. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00001N2QU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ocJDDb5R4KNS5 )
Laptop Behind Things - This was provided by my school for certain classes, and it's not too bad for the price. The charge lasts well over a day. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DBGVB7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6cJDDbBPSRRYF )
Charging cord - This is fairly new to me, but works just as you'd imagine. It allows quick charging which is a plus. I also recommend Chafon charging multicables. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V8G85DY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_seJDDb9Z4CY8F )
Red Cards - If I need to write a note to a friend, these come in handy and are more useful than Field Notes (come at me bois) for my daily use. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AMO8A0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ffJDDbZFZZXEJ )
Fancy Cards - Honestly, any Theory 11 deck is fancy, good for magic which I like, and convenient for playing a normal card game with friends. I switch this out with other cards pretty regularly, but I always carry a full deck. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JMNSXRB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SfJDDbC1EHH8Q )
Wireless Earbuds - They are dated so they aren't the best anymore, but they are still kicking. They connect to my phone and laptop whenever necessary. There are alternatives but they aren't bad for the price IMO. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07582VVJR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vgJDDb83TT6MF )
"Flippy Knife" - Ever since I bought this, I haven't been able to set it down for more than a day. It's all plastic, and I only use it in classes where the teachers don't mind. (Side note to anybody who has one of these; twist rubber bands up and place them in the handles near the end to make it quieter and slightly heavier) ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CRMRJ2K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4gJDDbPXHPXRF )
Not Listed - A calculus textbook, some folders, notebooks, pens, a spare FSP Bullet cartridge, pencils, a jacket in the bottom because weather, and a scrunched up gym bag in case a friend's bag breaks or I need more room than my bag allows.
I don't use my locker so I rely pretty heavily on this stuff. It's not for everyone, but hey. If anybody has any questions on the gear or any suggestions, feel free to comment. Thanks for taking the time to check out my post!
sadly, that is 100% true...

This is what Americans use. It costs about as much as a used smart phone and it's way less powerful.
This is my calc text. With tax it comes to over $300.
Americans are dumb as fuck because we can't afford to learn =***(

Brand new for $40 sounds too good to be true. Did you have some sort of discount?
$9/mo for a TI-83+??
It would've paid for itself in a school year, but by renting you have to go and give it back. I understand some people might not be able to afford the whole cost up front, but $9/mo for renting isn't doing them any favors either.
I'm sorry. I hate my TI, but love my Casio. Not to mention the nearly 10:1 cost difference. ($10 vs. close to $100)
I am aware that this is not the calculator pictured, but it's DARN close. I have had both, and they are functionally the same unless you want to do Calculus... The one pictured is still only $20...
It is a graphics calculator.

You can buy TI-83's for about $40 used
$140 Canadian dollars, sorry. Here's the link!
And yet the ti83 is the exact same price
Absolute fucking bullshit. It just shows the price gouging that will happen when people are forced by buy something and only one manufacture can make it.
If money is tight, don't buy new.
TI-83+ @ Amazon New == $92
TI-83+ @ Amazon Used == $25 to $35
The calculator in OP's picture.

It stems from highschool boredom.

$5?
Try more like $50-$90.
If they were actually $5 then I could understand but they haven't dropped prices in years.
This bullshit is still almost a hundred bucks, it's the same damn thing I had 12 years ago. F U TI.
These are cheaper than the ones in the store.
Who pays $100 for them anymore? There are tons of used ones on ebay and amazon
Right now, they aren't in high demand but I got mine for $20 off of ebay 3 of years ago
95$ I paid about that much when I got mine in high school too.

yeah no, your price is off and you're still not accounting for inflation
probably not anymore but this was back in HS (2004)
EDIT: Now they are at the low, low price of $82 - http://www.amazon.com/Texas-Instruments-TI-83-Graphing-Calculator/dp/B00001N2QU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310270757&sr=8-1
I fail to understand your point
$85 TI-83-Graphing-Calculator
$680 Apple iPhone 4G (useless without an additional data plan)
I know that they can be expensive but most Math teachers now days require a graphing calculator. This it the one I had in High school and it served me well. Good luck with school this year kiddos.
Umm... I paid that much for my Ti-83.
Edit: Umm... people are still paying that much for a Ti-83. http://www.amazon.com/Texas-Instruments-TI-83-Graphing-Calculator/dp/B00001N2QU
